The St Peters Difference
St Peters Lutheran College is one of Queensland’s leading independent schools and, in fact, the only co-educational boarding school in the Brisbane municipal area. Since 1945, the College has acted as both a home-away-from-home and a place that students come to excel. Today, students are welcomed from Prep – Year 12, with boarders welcomed from Year 6. Across all Year Levels, they’re are encouraged to embrace opportunities and get the most out of the College’s positive, holistic approach to education.
St Peters is a place where all students can excel—from the academic child, to the sporty child; the musical child, to the one who wants to try it all. Our multiple academic pathways, comprehensive Sports programs, internationally renowned Music programs and state-of-the-art facilities ensure that not only can every child learn every day, but they can discover and develop their own character strengths and, ultimately, reach their personal best.
Equipped for the future
At St Peters, we provide students with the skills needed to tackle our ever-changing world. We seek to educate the hearts, minds and hands of our students in a safe and nurturing environment and, inevitably, our students emerge as life-long learners and creative, critical thinkers.
In the Primary Years, our students follow the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IBPYP). As they progress up the Year Levels, they’re exposed to a range of Outdoor Education opportunities, including the iconic five-week farm stay experience, Ironbark, in Year 9. In the Senior Years, students can select from multiple academic pathways, including:
- Queensland Curriculum & Assessment Authority (QCAA)
- International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP)
- Vocational Education and Training (VET) options
In addition to academic studies, St Peters students have access to a range of co and extra-curricular interest programs. These include:
- the Duke of Edinburgh youth development and leadership program
- a well-established Robotics program
- an internationally renowned Music program, set in our state-of-the-art Performing Arts Centre
- 25 Sport programs with on-campus facilities and a professional Athletic Development Program
St Peters is a member of the Associated Independent Colleges (AIC) competition (for Boys Sport) and the Queensland Girls Secondary Schools Sport Association (QGSSSA) competition (for Girls Sport). It is also home to the St Peters Western Swim Club.
Pastoral Care & Support
St Peters is a Christ-centred community. Throughout all of their endeavours, our students are supported by our Pastoral Care & Ministry programs, including our dedicated Chaplaincy, Counselling and Careers teams. Students are also encouraged to give back to the wider community by getting involved in a range of Service Learning opportunities.
