Prep
Where it all starts
Prep is the first formal year of schooling, where we make memories to last a lifetime. At St Peters Indooroopilly, we see Prep as an extremely important part of the Primary Years, and overall, educational journey. Our Prep program takes place in a purpose-built learning space and is run by expert staff. Each class has one full-time teacher and is supported by a qualified teacher’s assistant. Learning, in Prep, is structured around an engaging and nurturing curriculum.
Our main goal, at St Peters Prep, is to ensure that your child’s introduction to schooling is a positive one. As part of the Primary Years sub-school, we follow the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IBPYP). This means that, under the umbrella of IBPYP, we deliver the Australian Curriculum through facilitated student inquiry. Literacy and numeracy skill acquisition feature extensively in our core curriculum and special classes, such as music, physical education and language are also built into this rich and diverse program.
Everyday life in Prep
St Peters Prep students enjoy great places and spaces to learn. The Prep Centre is bright, cheery, has a range of stimulating outdoor play areas and each classroom has self-contained bathroom facilities. While still near to the Lower Primary precinct, the Prep Centre is separate from the rest of the College. This allows our Prep students to learn and grow in a smaller environment, designed specifically for their needs.
St Peters Prep students have access to all of the College’s main facilities—from ovals, to the pools; the gym, the Performing Arts Centre, the Chapel, the Rainforest and more. Prep students are regularly invited to take part in whole-College events (such as ANZAC Day services and Multicultural Week festivities) and Primary Years events (sports carnivals, music performances and more). St Peters Prep acts as a stepping stone for children as they make their transition into the next phrase of their primary years.
Our Prep program embraces the College’s philosophy of providing a quality education through teaching excellence, nurturing pastoral care and individual attention for all students.
