Symphonic Winds

An auditioned, award-winning ensemble for the most advanced Junior High and Senior School students. Symphonic Winds is the flagship of the St Peters Band program. The group caters to the ensemble needs of the College's advanced musicians and gives them professional rehearsal, performance, and touring opportunities.

Wind Ensemble

An auditioned ensemble for Junior High and Senior School students. This group is the premier Intermediate step in the band program between Concert Band 1 and Symphonic Winds. The ensemble provides an active rehearsal and performance schedule that includes camps, concerts, and regional tours.

Concert Band 1

Primarily composed of students in Junior High, this auditioned ensemble is designed to cater to emerging brass, woodwind and percussion students. The focus of Concert Band 1 is on developing ensemble skills through technically challenging repertoire. Concert Band 1 performs in a wide variety of College events.

Senior Stage Band

This band is comprised of advanced students from Symphonic Winds. Performers cover a wide variety of musical styles, improvisation and enhanced independent playing skills. Entry is through invitation by the Head of Bands. This group tour internationally in conjunction with the St Peters Symphonic Winds.

Intermediate Stage Band

This band provides students the opportunity to play a variety of musical styles. It is the training ensemble for the Senior Stage Band. This ensemble is drawn from Wind Ensemble and entry is through an invitation from the Head of Bands. Intermediate Stage Band tour regionally with the Wind Ensemble.

Junior Stage Band

An introductory ensemble for students in Junior High, Junior Stage Band provides a foundation of jazz interpretation and improvisation, with repertoire drawn from a wide variety of styles and genres. This group is drawn from Concert Band 1 and entry is through an invitation from the Head of Bands.

Senior Percussion Ensemble

An extension ensemble made up of advanced and high achieving Junior High and Senior School musicians. This senior percussion group is designed to further develop the percussion technique whilst providing excellent performance opportunities.

Intermediate Percussion Ensemble

Composed of percussionists from Junior High to Senior School, this extension ensemble's primary focus is to instil an understanding of ensemble skill and rhythmic fundamentals. The ensemble performs in school concerts, year level assemblies, percussion workshops and other special events in the College calendar.

Junior Percussion Ensemble

This introductory ensemble provides extension opportunities to emerging Junior High percussionists. The ensemble repertoire is designed to focus on untuned drumming techniques and refining tuned mallet instrument ability. This ensemble performs in College concerts and special events.

Drumline

Modeled on the American Drumline, advanced Junior High and Senior School percussionists play in an alternative ensemble setting focused on challenging skill and drumline routines. Drumline joins forces with the Symphonic Winds in Term 1 to make up the Marching Band for the Brisbane City ANZAC Day March.

Guitar Ensembles

Both guitar ensembles offer mixed guitar groups, incorporating electric, folk and classical guitars. The groups perform a range of styles, focusing on the development of musical awareness and ensemble skills. Both ensembles perform at several concerts throughout the year.

Concert Band 2

An introductory ensemble for Primary Students in Years 5-6. This ensemble is designed to cater to emerging brass, woodwind and percussion students focusing on ensemble skills and rehearsal fundamentals. The group is formed from graduating MEBS students and early starters.
