We have nearly made it through another busy Term 2, from everyone in Sports House, we wish you a safe and happy holiday.
Congratulations and well done to all the girls who have represented St Peters this term either on the Basketball Court, running Cross Country or on the Touch or Football field.
Our girls have done an amazing job, we have enjoyed watching them and the improvement across all sports has been impressive. The girls have had wonderful support from our coordinators and coaches, and we thank each and every one of them for all they do for St Peters Sport.
Preseason for Netball, Volleyball, Hockey, Tennis, Rhythmic Gym, Track & Field and Rowing have all started well, we are excited for the seasons ahead. Please keep an eye out for all the Holiday/Pupil Free Day training sessions on offer.
SEMESTER 1 SPORT AWARDS PRESENTATION
On Tuesday night we celebrated the many students who have received a Sport award while representing the College in Semester One. The event was held in the Performing Arts Centre, it was a wonderful evening where the award winners were celebrated in front of senior leadership, their parents and their peers. Awards given were MVP and Coaches award for each team, perpetual trophies were awarded for the Player/Performance of the season and a Spirit of Sport award for each respective sport. The evening finished with our Service to Sport award winners, these students have represented St Peters in their sport for six or more years, a wonderful achievement. Congratulations to all the award winners.

While it has been cold over the past couple of days it has been fantastic to have girls on the water consistently. The improvements have been significant because of this consistency, and I would like to encourage families to please keep up the on water attendance as we move into camp. Can I please remind families to notify me of any absences, no communication significantly affects the ability of coaches to put full crews on the water, as plans cannot be made.
Round 3: Ergometer Trials – Wednesday 14 and Thursday 15 June (Afternoon)
Wednesday and Thursday afternoon sees the third round of ergometer selections for the program. Coaches will confirm with their year levels which afternoon they will do their trials.
2023 BSRA Rowing Camp – Bundaberg
Thank you to those families that have already returned the camp forms. As advised previously, camp is critical to kick start the racing season for the girls as well as to make some lifelong friends while they are away. Permission slips should have been returned in preparation for this camp.
A few updates as we head into the final few days of the term and camp.
Camp Departure: The buses on Saturday 17 June, are required to depart by no later than 6:00am. Can I please ask families to drop students at the internal bus stop (Indooroopilly) at 5:30am as bags are required to be organised and packed below the bus.
Cash: Food and drink at the onsite accommodation is all provided. On the bus drive up and back students will be having a short break of 30 minutes at the halfway point. A small amount of cash for students to purchase a healthy snack would be appropriate.
A reminder that the themed night for camp is ‘W’ eg Witches, Windchimes, Where’s Wally etc. This night will be taking place on Wednesday evening of camp.
Compulsory Regatta Training – Boat Race Official Presentation
As the program looks ahead to camp and to racing in Term 3, the Brisbane Schoolgirls Rowing Association and the College, require students and coaches to go through Boat Race Official and Regatta training for on water safety, communication and signs/signals from boat race officials at Regattas, this training is compulsory.
This training is undertaken by Boat Race Officials that are on the water with the students in a safety and fairness capacity at all regattas.
The St Peters Boat Race Official Presentation and Regatta training is Thursday 22 June (during Rowing Camp).
BSRA Regatta #3 – St Peters Hosting Saturday 5 August
The 2023 BSRA Regatta #3 is on Saturday 5 August and is being hosted by the St Peters Rowing Parent Support Group.
Hosting this event is a large undertaking where the St Peters Rowing program organises and takes all profits from the catering of this event. It is anticipated that more than 2500 people will attend this regatta. The hosting of this event is a large logistical undertaking and at the Parent Support Group meeting earlier this week, planning and coordination discussions were held to ensure we take full advantage of this fundraising opportunity. Could I please request all families make themselves available to assist on this day.
Mini Camp – Saturday 8 July & Monday 10 July
There is a daily mini-camp that will operate in the mornings between 6:00am - 9:00am on Saturday 8 and Monday 10 July (not Sunday 11 July). This camp is not compulsory, though I highly encourage girls to take part. More details and a Google sign on form for this camp will be provided closer to the date.
