Water Polo
Coordinator: Mrs Jenny Pavlides, email: waterpolo@stpeters.qld.edu.au
We have had some great turnouts to the waterpolo season trials so far and are heading for record breaking participation with over 130 girls currently trialling. All girls who signed up for the 2019/2020 season are in the final stages of trials with the last trials scheduled for this coming weekend. Once teams have been structured, girls will be emailed further information regarding training and schedules. Please refer all queries to our Waterpolo Coordinator – Jenny Pavlides.
Track & Field
Coordinator: Mr Shaun Nodwell
All girls were sent an email earlier in the week asking them to sign on for the second last QGSSSA Warm Up Meet of Term 3 – meet #5, which is being held this Friday 6 September at UQ. It is extremely important that girls attend these meets for valuable race practice and team selection. We have seen some great performances by many girls lately and are looking forward to the final part of the season as we head to the major championships day on Thursday 19 September.
Last weekend a large portion of our Track & Field both boys and girls competed in the Nitro Series Athletics Meet held at UQ. All girls in our Junior, Intermediate and Senior teams had a big day with many participating in the last round of Winter Fixtures in the morning. We thank these girls for their wonderful contribution to the co-curricular life of the College. We had some outstanding team results with the Junior and Senior girls placing 4th in the state and the Intermediate team placing an incredible 2nd. The Junior boys team placed 4th overall.
The QGSSSA Athletics Championships are being held on Thursday 19 September, the first pupil free day in Week 10 but also THE FIRST DAY OF STUDENT SEPTEMBER HOLIDAYS. Whilst this day has been advertised since July 2018, please again be aware that if your daughter is in the QGSSSA athletics team that this day is left aside for one of the biggest core sports days of our school calendar for QGSSSA.
Hockey
Coordinator: Cameron Glass
It was another quite successful weekend on the hockey field for the Hockey girls. Juniors had their best win of the season beating IGGS 6-0. Coach Tara couldn’t even pinpoint a particular player who stood out, stating that it was the best TEAM performance of the year. Seniors battled hard once and again and managed to come home with the chocolates winning 1-0. Opens unfortunately went down 2-1 after dominating huge parts of the game. We had a heap of scoring opportunities and whilst some chances were squandered by ourselves, the goalkeeper for IGGS was outstanding and thoroughly deserved to be Player of the Match.
Rowing – Head of The River
It was a fantastic Saturday for the Rowing girls at Wyaralong. Rowing is a unique sport that encompasses so many valuable sporting traits – strength in team work, individual knowledge, connections to the environment, an understanding of energy requirements to performance and quite simply – guts.
Congratulations to our amazing Rowing Coordinator, Peter Hicks, who was able to extend the girls of all abilities to their best and achieve a strong sense of community/school spirit and passion to the dam. The day was a great result from this perspective. Now the girls have completed the season we also congratulate the crews who will go on to state championships held in Bundaberg in the first weekend of the September holidays. This Sunday is the Rowing Lunch and we hope that the rowing community can enjoy the day and celebrate their achievements for 2019.
If you would like to know more information about the St Peters Rowing Program, please contact Peter Hicks, Head of Rowing via p.hicks@stpeters.qld.edu.au.
Winter Fixtures
Good luck to all our Winter Fixtures teams playing their final weekends of fixtures for 2019. This weekend we will be playing Clayfield College in various venues across all the sports. All the information is found on the St Peters App.

Coordinator: Mrs Anne-Marie Champion
Round 7 WRAP UP V Ipswich Girls Grammar School
What a great round of fixtures! Well done to the nine teams that enjoyed a win, special mention for the great sportsmanship shown by the 7C Team, you did us all proud. 7B, 8B, 9B & 10B all had impressive wins, Senior B enjoyed their first win for the season, 9A were dominant in great display of Netball and the Opens fought hard to get across the line by five. A big well done to our 10C team who finished a tough game with a draw and to our amazing Senior C girls who turn up each week and give their best, scoring ten goals was a great improvement. Well done Girls 😊

Tennis
Coordinator: Mrs Deborah Wilson
The QGSSSA Tennis girls played some excellent games last weekend against Ipswich Girls Grammar School. We recorded wins for all the teams for the first time this season. A special mention to the Junior B teams who fought hard for their win and it’s their first success this season – well done girls, your sportsmanship and encouragement of each other is impressive. Our Opens team remains undefeated and the quietly confident way the girls go about their games shows their amazing focus and a fantastic commitment to the sport.
Volleyball
Coordinator: Mr Joshua Singh
For the second week in a row, our girls have clean swept our fixture school. This week it was IGGS. Congratulations to 7A, 8A, 9A, 10A, Snr A, Opens and our 10B teams who recorded wins over the weekend. Our 7B, 8B, 9B didn’t have any games. It was great to witness the 10B v Senior B1 game on Saturday. You could clearly tell that the girls wanted to play their best and they didn’t want to lose to their fellow St Peters mates. Special mentions go to Ally M (10B) for her ability to keep calm under pressure with her back court passing, Jess P (10A) who focused hard on her serve reception/ defence and attacks, Lauren (Snr A) for her amazing back sets and Audrey L (10 C) for her serving and passing.
