How quickly Term 4 has arrived! Term 4 is a time when there is still so much learning to be engaged in, yet one celebratory event after another! All of this reinforces that there is so much to be deeply thankful for at St Peters Springfield. And so, at a time when the end-of-year fatigue can factor in, it is so important that we maintain an ‘attitude of gratitude’.
In a week's time, St Peters Springfield’s very first Year 12 graduates will celebrate the College’s very first 10 Year Reunion. The Class of 2012 will literally “go back to school” for a tour of our campus to start their reunion event. I am sure that some of our first Old Scholars will be agog with how the College has changed physically, especially with the establishment of our innovative Junior High Precinct. More importantly though, I believe they will recognise what remains the same.
Having been the school’s first Year 8 Pastoral Care, Christian Studies, English and Humanities teacher for this class in 2008 and having seen them into their senior years, I remember, as I am sure they will, how our College focused on nurturing compassionate people and respectful relationships, on the importance of being a strong, creative and innovative learning community and on doing our personal best, at all times, as we learn in community. We even encouraged each student to lift their sights a little higher as they moved forward in their various academic, cultural and sporting lives, looking ‘Plus Ultra – Ever Higher’. Moreover, the heartbeat of the College, God’s gracious love, was clear in class devotions, Chapels, special services and in our relationships.
It is pleasing to say that 15 years on, the mission, vision, values and heartbeat of our College are held dear; the same yesterday, today, as they will be tomorrow.
Our current Year 12 students have commenced the final milestones of their schooling journey. On the final night of Term 3, they looked absolutely stunning as they arrived in an array of vehicles and dined and danced together for their Year 12 Formal at Hillstone, St Lucia Golf Club. We look forward to sharing more information and photographs when these are available. Our Year 12 students will soon engage in their External Assessment Block and from there, there will be multiple Valedictory events. These are occasions to celebrate our students’ efforts and journeys with them and to thank them for their contribution to the St Peters Springfield story. A proportion of our students have spent all of their thirteen schooling years at St Peters Springfield and we will celebrate their special journey too.
The College has done its very best to instil in each of our soon-to-be Old Scholars a thirst for learning, God’s love and the opportunities that life holds. And we will continue this for every student of St Peters Springfield for years to come.
Choosing a school is one of the most significant decisions we make as parents. A school, no doubt, has a bearing on the attitudes and aptitudes of our young people. Our College is thankful and grateful that you have entrusted St Peters Springfield with the profound responsibility of working with you to care for and develop your children each day! Every blessing to your family for Term 4!

Children and adolescents acquire cognitive and social-emotional skills that shape their future mental health and are important for assuming adult roles in society.” – WHO
Imagine if all children were taught about mental health from a young age – how to cope with big emotions, what helps make us feel good and the importance of taking time to engage in these activities, and what to do when times are tough.

Lower Primary Athletics Carnival
The St Peters Springfield Prep to Year 3 Inter House Athletics Carnival was held on Tuesday 13 September2022. Our Year 6 students worked in small groups to coordinate each of the activities as part of their HPE assessment for Term 3. They showed Plus Ultra as they were supportive and encouraging to our younger students. The carnival gave our Prep to Year 3 students the opportunity to participate and compete in a range of Athletic based events for their house. A big thank you to Mr Kelly for his organisation to make this event a fun and interactive time.
Thank you also to our family members who came along to support the special event. It was also exciting to have our Kindy friends join in for some of the fun.

QGSSSA Girls Sport
Girls Sport Coordinator – Anne-Marie Champion
One of my friends asked, "Why do you pay so much money for your kid to play sports”? Well I have a confession to make; I don't pay for my kid to do sports. Personally, I couldn't care less about what sport they do.
So, if I am not paying for sports what am I paying for?
I pay for those moments when my kid becomes so tired they want to quit but don't.
I pay for those days when my kid comes home from school and is "too tired" to go to their training but they go anyway.
I pay for my kid to learn to be disciplined, focused and dedicated.
I pay for my kid to learn to take care of her body and equipment.
I pay for my kid to learn to work with others and to be a good teammate, gracious in defeat, and humble in success.
I pay for my kid to learn to deal with disappointment when she doesn’t get that win or championship she’d hoped for, but still she goes back week after week giving it her best shot.
I pay for my kid to learn to make and accomplish goals.
I pay for my kid to respect, not only themselves, but other players, officials, and coaches.
I pay for my kid to learn that it takes hours and hours, years and years of hard work and practice to create a champion and that success does not happen overnight.
I pay for my kid to be proud of small achievements, and to work towards long term goals.
I pay for the opportunity my kid has and will have to make life-long friendships, create lifelong memories, to be as proud of her achievements as I am.
I pay so that my kid can be out on the court instead of in front of a screen...
...I could go on but, to be short, I don't pay for sports; I pay for the opportunities that sports provides my kid with to develop attributes that will serve her well throughout her life and give her the opportunity to bless the lives of others. From what I have seen so far I think it is a great investment!
