Girls Sport Coordinator – Anne-Marie Champion
“Showing gratitude is one of the simplest yet most powerful things humans can do for each other.” Randy Pausch
This week is always a sad one as we farewell our Year 12 students. As I have been sorting through photos, I have realised how lucky I am to work with such amazing girls in the field of Sport that has been such a big part of my and my family’s lives.
Together with our Sport House team, as the girls venture off in various directions, we thank them for everything they have done for the College and for Girls Sport, we have enjoyed watching them grow to the fine young ladies they are today. Good luck and remember to keep embracing the benefits of physical activity beyond school.
I must take this opportunity to thank our 2021 Girls Sport Captains, Claudia L and Ashleigh S, who I have loved working with this year. They have done an incredible job leading the way and initiating some changes to improve our culture which is exciting for the future. We saw the rebirth of the ‘Focus Rounds’, where students were encouraged to come and support our Open teams, these were an amazing success and another opportunity for our students from both campuses to come together as one. A thank you afternoon tea for all the Girls Sport Captains was yet another way to celebrate and a legacy I hope to see continue.
Well done Claudia and Ash! You have set an example for our future Girls Sport Captains to follow and we thank you and wish you well. I am certainly going to miss our regular meetings 😊

BWPI WATER POLO
Coordinator: Mrs Tracey Bruce – waterpolo@stpeters.qld.edu.au
A very windy day for Water Polo saw strong shot attempts blown over the top of the net and into the stands. Long passes didn’t make the distance as the wind stopped the ball in its tracks.
I saw a quote recently that said, TEAMWORK DIVIDES THE TASKS AND MULTIPLIES THE SUCCESS. This is so true of our Water Polo Program. I can see improvements in the way our Teams are performing in both game play and trainings. The reasons for our improvements start from the top. Firstly, to have Mr Kotzur at the pool (it’s a regular thing; he turns up and cheers on different teams) and Mrs Champion is also a regular poolside! When you have the Head of Girls Sport and the Head of College watching and supporting the girls, it sets a standard. Then it’s the Managers and the Coaches who are turning up and setting great examples to our girls. Parents thank you for everything you are doing to help with table duty, getting the girls to training and games. Two games left and the first half of the season is over, and we all get that much needed holiday. For this last full week of training I encourage everybody to turn up and keep the 'Teamwork' building.
