Girls Sport Coordinator – Anne-Marie Champion
“We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.” Winston S Churchill
As we come to the end of 2021, my second year in the role of Girls Sport Coordinator, and what a year it has been. I would like to say a big thank you to the St Peters Community for your support throughout the year. Without a doubt the highlight has been getting the opportunity to meet and support our amazing cohort of girls. Girls, you have represented our College in many ways, and we thank you for giving all you do for St Peters Sport - we are very proud of you.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our amazing coordinators and coaches, who work so hard behind the scenes, thank you for providing opportunities for our girls to engage meaningfully in a wide range of sports.
I wish all our St Peters families a very happy and healthy holiday, I hope after the year it has been you get to spend some quality time with your families. Merry Christmas and we will see you in 2022 for another wonderful year of Girls Sport.

OPEN GIRLS V OPEN BOYS WATER POLO GAME
As we wind down to the halfway mark of the 2021/2022 season, Coordinator Tracey, together with the Captains planned two fun training sessions before the final round of games that will be played this Saturday. On Monday night the Tube Polo games were a massive hit and a great way to wind down to the break. The Open Boys v Open Girls game finished with the boys taking the W by one. The final score was 9–8 in what was a close game - the boys certainly didn’t have it all their way! Thank you to the boys for making the effort to come and play the girls.
Unfortunately, Tuesday night’s fun session was cancelled due to the heavy rain. This fun Tube Polo session for the U15B, U15C, U13B, U13C & U12B teams has been rescheduled for Tuesday 25 January 😊.
ROUND 7 WRAP UP
With one game left of the first half of the season and everybody starting to feel weary Round 7 brought some great results.
This week’s Award - ‘The Disney Award’ for the person who played a ‘Magical & Entertaining game’.
U12B - Played like troupers although a little confused by some of the officials calls. Kay S scored a great goal (her first for the season) and was awarded ‘The Disney Award’ and Georgia shone with her shooting performance. The skills that Nacole and Ellie are teaching them at training are starting to transfer into match play. Eight goals is a great effort!
U13B - Another strong team performance. Coach Sophie was happy with the implementation of the mushroom in attack. This team worked tirelessly keeping possession of the ball for most of the match. Lauren W, for the second week in a row, took the prize.
U13C - What a performance! This team is undefeated and playing like a group of champions. Coach Nacole has them really rallying together and playing some great Polo. Eliza C won the award for her magical and entertaining game!
U14B - Drew 6-6, with only one sub this team played with a huge amount of heart, they were super tired but continued to fight until the end. Romi V-B won the team award for her outstanding sportsmanship and game play.
U14C - This team was a little short on numbers, but they hung in there to lose narrowly 3-6.
U15B - Finally got a win with me watching! I was seriously blaming myself for being a bad luck charm. Sophie L scored two brilliant goals and was awarded the team prize. Ainsley T looked like a water spider on top of the water stealing the oppositions ball time after time. I must say that the swimming fitness of this team is great to watch. Amelia R playing in the centre forward position was dangerous with the ball, Georgia in centre back position defense did a solid job. Lila K, Eva H and Chloe C all got good shots off. I also saw Hannah do an amazing ball under in front of the goals.
U15C - This team of stars is combining well and absolutely dominating the opposition. Really hard to pick an award winner as all the girls could have easily taken the prize. McKenzie B playing a second game every week also plays in the 13C team was outstanding in her defense, getting post side and stealing ball after ball.
U16C - Played some really smart Water Polo. Coming off a loss last week they dominated AHS in both attack and defense winning 14-2. With a couple of girls at Ironbark, Alice H out injured and, Ruby R playing in the U18B at the same time, this team played with no subs. Playing for a full 28 minutes without a break is a great workout and to top it off with a win is a fantastic effort. Brienna was awarded the team prize.
U17C - Playing the last game of the day at 5.45pm were in for a tough game from AHS. The AHS had just been dropped down from the B Division so had been coming off some big defeats. AHS got the first goal of the game and we were 4-3 down at one stage. The game was level and it was at this time AHS had two kick outs that we utilised our extra man in attack and went one up. Chloe M was the rebound queen and amazing at getting onto any loose ball. Summer F scored an amazing lob shot. Gabbie E took ‘The Disney Award’ for her strong shooting and tough play. Remaya B showed grit under pressure stopping numerous attempts. Greta M worked hard. Isla L’s swim fitness is a big plus as she has time to get up the pool, making it look easy when she must turn and get back in defense. Zara F’s intensity attracted the whistle and she was on a couple of exclusions. Mia S missed work to come and play and put everything she had into the game.
Our U18B team went into last quarter down by three and pulled off a miracle draw. They showed when they took control of their attacking plays, they turned the game around. Sian F sitting in the centre forward position was outstanding with her fancy goal scoring. Ellie S-S attracted the whistle earning herself three exclusions and an early finish one minute into the second quarter. Every player in this team lifted intensity to get us back into the game and a draw is better than a loss.
