A very warm welcome to the 2024 school year. For those families new to St Peters, I hope that your child settles in well, and that they (and you) feel part of our community very quickly.
It is wonderful to have students back on campus this week. Schools are very different places when our students are present. Our students bring a life, energy and sense of hope and joy to St Peters. It has been terrific to witness the smiles on their faces and the excitement in their voices each day this week.
It is important that our students make a positive start to the year and lay strong foundations for the year ahead in order to set themselves up for success. Establishing good habits around homework and study, demonstrating a positive attitude towards classwork, being organised, managing time effectively, setting goals and challenging oneself are important elements of laying the foundations for success. Part of laying the foundations is the expectation that our students hold high expectations of themselves and pursue their personal best in all that they do. Holding high expectations of ourselves is reflected in getting the seemingly small things right– like uniform, punctuality, good manners and work ethic. I encourage all our students to get these ‘small things’ right. If they do this, it will help to set them up for success in the ‘big things’.
One of the distinguishing features of a St Peters education is the breadth of opportunities available in and out of the classroom. Over the December-January break, students had the opportunity to be part of a Band Tour to the west coast of the United States and Canada, a Strings Tour to Japan, a Year 11 Service Learning Trip to Cambodia, a student exchange to Germany, a Cricket Tour of Adelaide, take part in the National Volleyball Titles on the Gold Coast, and Robotic Championships in Sydney. St Peters really is a world of opportunities that helps to create a rich and diverse student experience. These diverse experiences enable our young people to grow, develop their character and learn more about the person they are becoming. I encourage our students to engage in what St Peters offers, and discover passions that perhaps they don’t even know they have yet.
I wish all in our community a wonderful 2024 and look forward to seeing people around campus as the year unfolds. Plus Ultra!

Welcome back to the new school year! Christmas may seem so long ago, but I think it’s worth trying to hold onto the Christmas feeling for a little bit longer. In this post-Christmas time I’m often drawn to the story of the wise men, that part of the Christmas story that happens a little bit later than Jesus’ actual birth.
Holidays are typically a time for travel, and many a summer holiday has been spent on a long road trip, working out where to go and how to get to the planned destination. But this year has been different for so many people, with bushfires and floods and worries around illness changing so many plans. For me, my journey to Adelaide and back was detoured by bushfire, family catch-up affected by COVID and the trip home saw road damaged by flooding and numerous roadworks…we had it all! But I know it wasn’t just me — the journey for so many this summer and for the past few years has been very different than what they had expected.
I think for the wise men too, their journey was very different from what they expected. They travelled so long and so far, searching for a king, only to realise that they had actually been searching for someone very different. In discovering that humble little baby, they discovered something so much more — they discovered a God who was prepared to come down to them, to be with his people, to live with and journey with all of humankind.
Even as the wise men discovered that God was closer than they thought, so we discover this same truth even as we deal with hardship and worry. We ask where God is as we travel the difficult journey that life sometimes sends us on. But even as we ask the question, we come to discover exactly what the wise men discovered — that God is here with us, helping us and supporting us. Just like the star shone a light on the love of God in this world, so too do we see shining stars — helpers and workers who shine the light of God’s love into the lives of those around them.
So as your journey through this year, whatever the year may hold for you, look to those who bear the light of love in your life. And know that you too have the light of God’s love in and around you, helping you to be a shining light for those around you. And in doing so, we discover that God is indeed here with us.

BUSES TO/FROM ST PETERS INDOOROOPILLY
St Peters (Indooroopilly) has been working with our bus operators to improve the services offered to the campus. We are pleased to announce the addition of several new services including Centenary suburbs in 2024.
Please note – these services are available to students in Years 5–12.
Southern Cross Transit buses service the following schools in the local area: Ambrose Treacy College, Brigidine College, St Peters Lutheran College and Indooroopilly State High School. The Brisbane Bus Lines Gap Service is a charter arranged by St Peters.
Please remind your students that they must hail the bus to ride.
We ask parents to please not approach the drivers of bus services as they are unable to answer your queries and these conversations cause unnecessary delays to the service. Any questions should be directed to the Southern Cross Transit Customer Service Line 07 3813 8900 or Brisbane Bus Lines 07 3354 3633.
SOUTHERN CROSS TRANSIT
Timetables & Routes
Following feedback from the College and parents, Southern Cross Transit has updated the route and timetable to ensure maximum coverage and an earlier arrival at St Peters. These changes will come into effect from this Monday 29 January.
To view the route on the map you will need to maximise the map and click the checkbox of the relevant bus service. Times are indicative only and subject to traffic congestion on the day. During the first two weeks of school, the roads historically experience much heavier congestion impacting bus journeys. Many of the students being dropped off and picked up in cars in the first few weeks opt for other transport options from Week 3 which significantly improves the running of bus services.
Southern Cross Transit also runs a standby service should any student miss the bus due to changes in the timetable. To access this service, please ring their emergency line 0418 165 547 to inform the Duty Manager that they require collection.
We would ask for your patience during this transition period as Southern Cross Transit finesses these new routes. Any major changes will be communicated to parents.
How to use the service
All registrations and fares are managed through SMARTCARD via Southern Cross Transit. You can register your students for Travel Passes here. Cash payments are no longer accepted.
Parents and students can track the progress of their bus via the TransportMe app.
BRISBANE BUS LINES
The Gap
The Gap bus service will continue to be offered separately by Brisbane Bus Lines. Route and timetables are available via the Location & Transport page of our website. Fares for this service are $5.30 per journey and students use their student ID to tap on and off the service. St Peters will issue an invoice each Term for all journeys taken.

School zone safety – advice for motorists, parents and carers
With school back for 2024, we need to keep safety top-of-mind when travelling through active school zones and around our school community.
School zone times have been standardised in Queensland to help motorists remember when to slow down. The standard operating times for most school zones in Queensland are 7:00am-9:00am and 2:00pm-4:00pm, with some operating all day between 7:00am-4:00pm.
Speeding remains a significant concern, contributing to fatalities and injuries, and police will be on the lookout for speeding motorists. Keeping below the signed speed limit in school zones helps keep everyone safe. This simple adjustment may have minimal impact on travel time but has the potential to significantly contribute to saving lives.
Children's crossings are identified by children's crossing flags, displayed near crossings before and after school hours.
When the crossing is supervised, you, as a motorist, must:
Wait until all pedestrians, bicycle riders, or personal mobility device riders have crossed the road and the crossing supervisor has returned to the footpath.
Abide by the direction given by the School Crossing Supervisor.
Please keep our children safe by staying alert, slowing down and obeying our school crossing supervisors who are there to help kids cross the road safely.
You can also help children become more road safety aware by:
Showing them how to look for vehicles coming in and out of driveways and discourage them from playing behind parked cars, or with toys or balls when walking to school.
Ensuring your child knows the safest route to and from school. This is usually the way with the least traffic and the fewest roads to cross and teach your child to always walk on footpaths.
Showing your child how to cross at traffic lights when the green 'walk' sign is showing at pedestrian crossings when vehicles have stopped and at supervised school crossings when the supervisor has signalled it is safe to do so.
Accompanying children when walking or riding to school until they are old enough to understand road safety (usually around 10 years or older).
Teaching your child if they catch the bus to never cross in front of or behind a bus; wait until the bus goes before crossing the road.
Making sure wheeled devices (bicycle, scooter, skateboard, or rollerblades) used to travel to school are well maintained and that the appropriate protective and safety gear (for example, helmet, visible clothing, knee and elbow pads) are used.
Visit the Street Smarts website for more information about what to do at pedestrian and children crossings.
Year 7 and Year 10 Vaccinations
Dear Year 7 and Year 10 Parents,
Students will soon receive an invitation to receive important vaccinations as recommended by the National Health and Medical Research Council of the Australian Government. The invitation will be in the form of an informative envelope relating to the vaccinations on offer. St Peters distributes the envelopes to students on behalf of the Queensland Government and provides a venue for vaccination days. Please follow the instructions within the envelope and return the completed form as promptly as possible to Sub-School Receptions. The following 2024 dates have been set aside for the Immunisation Nurses to visit the College and facilitate the vaccination clinics.

Welcome to 2024! This year, we have many exciting plans for celebrations and activities involving reading and research.
The Langer Library supports Years 7-12 students and is open from 7:45am to 8:30pm Monday to Thursday and 7:45am to 4:00pm on Fridays. Please note, that there may be some minor changes to the opening hours, especially in the first and last weeks of terms. Notification of any changes will appear in this newsletter and on the Langer Library webpage.
After school, Day Scholars and Boarders in Years 7–12 are most welcome to make use of the Langer Library’s extended hours.
Years 11 and 12 students: the Theile House Study Centre will be open from 7:45am to 5:00pm Monday to Thursday and 7:45am to 3:15pm on Fridays.
Students in Years 5 and 6 are asked to refer to the Upper Primary Administration for information regarding their after-school facilities.
This year we start our first celebration in Week 4: Queensland School Library Week and Library Lovers Week. Lots of fun activities are planned! Also commencing on 8 February is our Student Book Club which is held fortnightly on Thursday Week A during lunchtime.
It is wonderful to see the expressions of excitement from students as they see their friends and form new relationships. The return of the students brings the campus back to life, and there is a renewal of the sense of community and belonging which is part of what makes St Peters the school it is.
The school year began with an Orientation Day for new students last Friday. This day allowed the new students to learn about the College and its environment with fewer students on campus. The College Captains, Vice Captains and student volunteers assisted in the day’s events and welcomed their new friends to St Peters, giving a student’s view of being a part of the St Peters community.
Ceremonies and welcome events continue over the next few weeks and I encourage all to make themselves familiar with Firefly and the Community Portal, where important information on these can be accessed – dates and times of the Scholars’ Assembly, Junior High Academic Award ceremonies, Parent Information Evenings/Sessions, and other welcome functions can be found there.
Parents are encouraged to reach out should they have questions or concerns regarding the academic program of their sons and daughters — staff working in the Academic Hub are here to assist. It is important to remember that parents and staff working in unison will provide a clear path for student success. The Academic Hub is located adjacent to Shop 45 and contact details are:
At the beginning of every year, some students make decisions to alter their academic program and wish to make changes to their subject selections. Please remember, all changes must have parental approval through email to subjectchanges@stpeters.qld.edu.au, for Years 9 and 10, and completion of the required document and discussion with me, for Years 11 and 12. These changes are to be completed by the end of Week 2 (February 2).
Best wishes for the 2024 academic year.

Primary Years
Welcome Parents and Caregivers to the start of the Primary Years College year!
The overall feeling in the Primary Years on Monday was one of excitement, perhaps a little trepidation and a reconnection with friends and teachers, and boy was it hot! We welcome especially, our new families to the Primary Years and our youngest students as they commence their first year of school in Prep.
We encourage you to stay informed and involved in your child's education by regularly checking the Primary Years page on Firefly (you can find this page here), attending parent-teacher evenings, and volunteering in the Primary Years.
I also want to remind you of the importance of regular attendance and punctuality. Consistency in attendance and punctuality is essential for academic success, as it allows students to build and maintain positive relationships with their classmates and teachers. It also allows them to begin their day in a calm and settled manner.
We understand that the beginning of the school year can be a worrying time for both parents and children. We want to assure you that we are here to support you and your child throughout the year. We encourage you to reach out to your child's teacher if you have any concerns or questions.
This year we welcome eight new staff to the Primary Years. These new teachers come to us with a breadth of experience both in primary schooling and in the PYP, and I know they will enhance their teams and the St Peters community. Welcome to Ms Rigbye King in the Prep A classroom working in partnership with Mrs Sue Cornish. Mrs Bree Neumann joins our Year 1 team, and we welcome Mrs Tania Carr into the Year 4 team. Mr Lewis Green and Mrs Trishelle Grieves join the team in Upper Primary. Welcome Mr Ben Shields to the PE Department as Head of Primary Years HPE and Sport, and Mrs Lotte ten Hacken into the Lower Primary Library working with Mrs Daley and Mrs Malta. Welcome too, to our new Upper Primary Wellbeing Coordinator, Mrs Kelly Connors.
We warmly welcome these new staff members and trust that they will become an integral part of St Peters in the future.
We are thrilled to have the students back in the classroom and are looking forward to a successful College year.
Lisa Challenor Head of Primary Years

Junior High
Welcome to 2024!
On behalf of the Junior High staff, I welcome you to the 2024 school year and to the Junior High community. We are looking forward to working with you and your child throughout the year.
Due to a number of staff movements and changes since the end of 2023, there has been some rearrangement of key roles within our Senior Academic Care and Wellbeing team in Junior High. The staff either Acting or continuing in these roles for Semester 1 are as follows:
Last Friday’s Orientation Day enabled all Year 7 students and new Years 8–9 students to adjust to their surroundings before the start of the school year, to meet their Form teacher and to spend some time together as a class. The students were very enthusiastic and responsive to the range of information that was provided to them over the course of the day. My sincere thanks go to the Year 7 Form teachers and the Junior High Year Level Coordinators for their time, care and attention given to the new students on their first day at St Peters.
We have all been impressed with how our students have shown initiative and approached challenges this week as they worked through their timetables and found their way around the campus, particularly in light of the ongoing building works that are underway. Equally pleasing has been the friendliness exhibited by returning students as they have welcomed new members to our community.
COMMUNICATION
In a large organisation such as St Peters, it can be challenging to work out who to contact if you have a question or concern. Over the coming weeks, you will undoubtedly access College information through a variety of ways. To start the year off well, consider the following:
Know the name of your child’s Form teacher, their Subject teachers and the Year Level Coordinator and how to contact them – they will be your first port of call for most issues;
Download the St Peters App and subscribe to the Junior High alerts. Be sure to select Indooroopilly campus, and not Springfield;
Sit down with your child to access their Firefly account and explore the following:
Resources > Secondary Indooroopilly > Secondary Parent Information > Secondary Parent Information Handbooks > Junior High Handbook
Resources > Secondary Indooroopilly > Year Level Pages These Firefly pages are where most electronic copies of forms and handbooks are placed and where you will find information relevant to your child.
YEAR 9 LEADERSHIP DAY
Each year, as part of their preparation for taking on formal leadership roles in Junior High, our Year 9 students engage in a range of leadership activities. We recognise that leadership comes in a wide variety of forms and that all students have the potential and the opportunity to take on leadership roles in both formal and informal ways throughout their lives. The key message we promote is that leadership is not just about having a badge and that a model of servant leadership is the one that is embraced within the College.
Students in Years 7, 8 and 9 had opportunities to take on formal leadership roles in Junior High last year — Year 7s and 8s as Class Representatives, and Year 9s as Student Leaders or House Leaders. These were in addition to leadership opportunities available in a variety of other areas within the College through involvement in sport and cultural activities.
The Year 9 Leadership Day held this week built upon the leadership sessions that were presented during Term 4 in 2023, where different concepts of leadership were explored and discussed. All Year 9 students participated in the event on Thursday, which was facilitated by yLead, an external organisation experienced in running leadership events for students. The day included sessions presented by key speakers from the College, including Mr Kotzur and Mrs Delaney, as well as our current College Captains. Four engaging and interactive group sessions were then presented by the facilitators.
The yLead sessions explored the impact that attitude and behaviour have on results, environment and culture. They also discussed the importance of listening to and respecting the opinions of others even if it is different from their own. Creativity and collaboration are an integral part of leadership. Students explored the collaboration of ideas in teams, understanding that there is more than one way to do something.
The final session of the day was one in which the students were given information about how to apply for the formal leadership positions that are available in Junior High for 2024; these include Student Representative positions (a group of 16 students from which the Captains and Vice-Captains will be selected) and, later in the term, the 18 House Leader positions (2 per House).
DATE CLAIMERS
Term one has a lot to offer and below are some important events that are scheduled over the next few weeks.
St Peters Years 7-9 Swimming Carnival
Thursday 1 February – 50 metre pool (Week 2)
This is a compulsory school day and all students are expected to attend and support their house – House Points are allocated for all events. If for some reason your child is unable to swim they should still attend but please send a note to Junior High Reception to explain why they are unable to participate. This will then be communicated to their House Patron. If for some reason you feel your child might struggle throughout the day please contact their Year Level Coordinator before the day so we can plan how best to support them.
A great day is generally had by all, with Junior High students usually leading the way with participation and enthusiasm. A small canteen runs on the day but students need to bring their morning tea, lunch, and water bottle. Students who do not attend due to illness are asked to obtain a Medical Certificate from the doctor.
Junior High Parent Information Evening
Tuesday 6 February – 6:00pm-7:15pm PAC Dron Auditorium (Week 3)
These evenings are designed to give parents further insight into the experiences their child will be undertaking this year in Junior High, as well as information about organisation of their daily school life. Students do not generally attend, however, they may go to the Langer library if required. The evening will commence with a joint session for parents of students in Years 7–9; the second part of the evening will be parents meeting with the respective Year Level Coordinator to discuss a range of matters pertinent to that particular year level. A link to register for this event will be emailed to parents.
We thank you for entrusting us with the care and education of your children and look forward to the year ahead.
Ms Kelly Fox Acting Head of Junior High

Nutcracker Ballet Choir 2023
Congratulations to The Nutcracker Ballet Choir!
Congratulations to the St Peters Nutcracker Choir who sang for the first week of the Queensland Ballet's season of Tchaikovsky's 'The Nutcracker'. Seventeen students from Years 7-12 volunteered to perform this year. After rehearsals during Term 4, they confidently stepped onto the stage of QPAC's Playhouse Theatre and gave great performances each night.
This is the 11th year that St Peters Choral Program has been invited by Queensland Ballet to sing for 'The Nutcracker'. It was, as always, a wonderful opportunity for the students to sing in professional performances, working with members of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra to support the dancers. Performing the same music each night gave students in the choir at taste of life as a professional musician. They were very aware that whilst for them it was a repeat performance, for the audience each night this was the first, and maybe only time they would see 'The Nutcracker'. The students responded with great focus, always giving of their best and working to improve each night.
The St Peters Nutcracker Choir would like to thank Queensland Ballet for their support and the gift of tickets to the second dress rehearsal which allowed the choir to see the whole ballet. Thank you also to Ms Morton who directed the choir for all performances in 2023.

WELCOME TO ST PETERS BOYS SPORT FOR 2024!
“The pain of effort is temporary, the pain of defeat is not.”
I would like to welcome you to the St Peters community for 2024! I hope this email finds you well and filled with excitement for the upcoming sports season. As we gear up for the challenges and triumphs that lie ahead, I am thrilled to extend a warm welcome to each one of you.
My name is Mr Dan Fraser, your Boys Sport Coordinator, and I am truly honoured to join the St Peters community. With the new year comes new opportunities, and I am eager to work with you, your families and your coaches to build on the success of our sport programs and set ambitious goals for the AIC season. I have recently made the move from Adelaide, where I had the privilege of working with Adelaide United, managing high-performance football programs. Prior to that, my journey led me to Mackay, where I oversaw a sporting academy focusing on Rugby and Touch Football.
We are extremely excited and looking forward to a successful year of St Peters Boys Sport and assisting the young men of our College aspire to and reach their sporting goals in 2024 and beyond.
St Peters prides itself on its holistic approach to education which Sport and cocurricular activity play a significant role in developing. It is not too late to sign up for Volleyball, Cricket, Swimming, Cross Country, Australian Rules Football and Rowing for this term. We encourage all students who have not signed up for a Term 1 Sport to contact the Sporting Coordinators listed below and they will be happy to assist you concerning trials, training and games.
Please also note that Boys AIC Round 1 for Australian Rules, Volleyball and Cricket commences next weekend (Friday 2 February & Saturday 3 February). We will be playing a full round of trial games this weekend (Thursday 25 January & Saturday 27 January) versus Iona College and St Edmunds College for Senior Boys Australian Rules. Over the holiday break, St Peters Volleyball competed at the Australian Volleyball Schools Cup on the Gold Coast. With nearly 500 teams from 150 schools across Australia and New Zealand battling it out over six intense days, our St Peters Volleyball players had their work cut out.
A big shoutout to our teams: Year 11 Girls, Year 11 Boys, Year 10 Girls, Year 10 Boys, Year 9 Girls and Year 8 Girls. And well done to our Year 11 Girls for clinching the Division 1 victory for the second consecutive year—a fantastic result!
Congratulations to all our players and coaches for their effort, focus and determination throughout the competition. What a fantastic way to round out a wonderful year of St Peters Volleyball.
St Peters Swimming is officially underway starting with the 2024 Swim Camp held on Wednesday 17 January. St Peters Swimming continues to grow with over 140 athletes displaying great levels of energy and enthusiasm by all as we look to build momentum over the coming weeks.
The swim camp provides an opportunity for all participants, particularly our new junior members, to clock their times and showcase their skills. A dedicated team of SPW coaches and St Peters Sport staff were present to ensure the smooth coordination of the day. Year 12 students also demonstrated their leadership by taking the initiative in assisting to run team building activities for our younger students.
We look forward to seeing all students for the swim meet later this week on 25 January.
St Peters Cricket Tour
On Thursday 14 December, a team of 26 St Peters Cricket students spanning Years 8-11 embarked on a six day pre-season training and Cricket tour in Adelaide, South Australia.
Based in Glenelg and accompanied by our coaches Gary Munday, Andy Richards, Sam Chew, Andrew Crothers, George Thomas and parent supporters, the boys engaged in Cricket matches at St Peters (SA), Blackfriars, and Woodcroft Colleges. Additionally, with some downtime in between matches, the team visited the iconic Adelaide Oval and Don Bradman Museum to take in some Cricket history.
Evenings were brimming with enjoyable activities in the Glenelg area, including putt-putt, beaches and pool time. The St Peters Cricket Tour has been a huge success and forged enduring bonds among the three age groups, resulting in an unforgettable experience and the creation of lasting friendships and memories.
St Peter's Open Football students recently embarked on a football training camp, immersing themselves in a weekend of skill development and camaraderie at the Sunshine Coast Sport Recreation precinct.
Under the guidance of Head Coaches Jacob Minnett and Nathan Shepherd … the boys engaged in intensive training sessions and internal matches. Beyond the pitch, the camp fostered team spirit through beach activities and team-building tasks. Thank you to Mr Mulligan, Mr Zafer and Mr Lohe, whose commitment enhanced the overall experience. The camp sets the stage for a promising 2024 season, with eager anticipation for the successes that lie ahead. Training for Open Football begins Wednesday Week 1, please refer to email from Mr Mulligan for Senior students.
ST PETERS TERM 1 AIC SPORT
AIC Volleyball, Cricket, Australian Rules and Swimming are the current IN-SEASON BOYS AIC SPORTS this term and training is currently well underway. It has been a very hectic lead-up to our Term 1 sports with preseason training beginning last year.
Also, this term, we will see the commencement of both St Peters Cross Country and St Peters Rowing training for our boys. St Peters Cross Country training is open to all boys from Years 7–12, whilst St Peters Rowing will cater for boys in Years 8–12. All training will continue over the coming weeks of this term and we encourage both students and parents to become familiar with the St Peters App when looking for information pertaining to anything dealing with St Peters Sport.
All boys participating in any Term 1 Sport must be now attending training and are available for this weekend’s scheduled trial fixtures.
For details of times and venues for this weekend’s trial games against Iona College/St Edmunds College (Senior Boys Australian Rules) please check the information on the St Peters App.
For our St Peters sporting programs to positively develop and grow, it is paramount that our students attend training sessions for their chosen sport, so they can improve and refine sport-specific skills and build cohesion amongst their team-mates.
If students are unable to attend some training sessions, their absence must be communicated to their coaches first, and also to the respective coordinator/s.
Should the sport-specific information you seek not be found on the St Peters App, please contact the below sport-specific coordinators.
Welcome to the 2024 South Queensland School Aged Rowing Conference season. We are preparing for another fantastic year ahead in which we defend our 2023 titles — Jenny Pemberton Cup for the most successful boys rowing program and the Rowing Queensland Percentage Cup for the most successful rowing program in the conference. St Peters has won both titles for the past several years and looks forward to continuing this tradition in 2024. Training for all year levels commences in Week 2 on Monday 29 January. The Training Schedule and information regarding training venues, transportation, uniform and gear requirements is available on the St Peters Sports App. The Rowing Annual Calendar is also available on the App with all relevant season dates including rowing camp and regatta dates.
For our Junior Shed rowers (Years 8–9) the first few sessions will predominantly involve getting their boats rigged and maintained, learning proper boat and equipment handling procedures and for those who have not already completed the Learn to Row Program last term, some time in the Ergo Gym at Indooroopilly learning basic stroke technique before they head out on the Brisbane River for their first on-water session. The Senior Shed (Years 10-12) commences on-water training from Tuesday 30 January. Please review the information on the St Peters Sports App and forward any questions to the Rowing Coordinator, Helen Allard. Please notify absences from training via email to the Coordinator too.
The St Peters Boys Rowing program competes in the South East Queensland Rowing Conference during Term 2. The boys also complete a preseason training schedule during Term 1 each year. Please refer to the app for training and sign-up details.

FTC Robotics National Finals Success
Our proud FIRST Tech Challenge team #11505, the Flaming Galahs, performed fantastically well for our first National finals in several years. 42 teams from around Australia competed at Macquarie University, Sydney, in December. We won four out of five of our matches, finishing in fifth position overall. Unfortunately, we narrowly missed out on a place in the finals; we will aim even higher next year. We were also awarded as Finalist in the Contral Award.
“This award is given to the team that demonstrates innovative thinking to solve game challenges such as autonomous operation, improving mechanical systems with intelligent control, or using sensors to achieve better results. The control component should work consistently in the field.”
We thank our sponsors/supporters for their assistance of our team this season. Thanks to Rockwell Automation, Hatch, Quadric and the Digital Parent Support Group. Connecting with our sponsors inspired our team to produce a more technical robot and team presentation. We look forward to working with them again in 2024 in our FRC campaign.
