Game of the week
On Saturday, the St Peters 7A Cricket team (7/116) defeated St Laurence’s College (3/115).
Jack and Jamie got the team off to a solid start against some tight opening bowling from St Laurence’s having St Peters 0/18 from the first six overs. Isaac and Jamie then took the score to 25 before Jamie was run out for 11 which lead to a string of wickets falling for St Peters before drinks to be 5/48 after 15 overs thanks largely to a quick fire 15 runs from Ashish. Liam (20 not out) and Jacob (36) put on a 55 run partnership to take St Peters to a competitive score of 7/116 off their 29 overs.
The opening batsman came out confidently, attacking the opening bowlers early including three massive sixes and punishing anything that was too short to be 1/44 off the first 11 overs. St Peters knew that this game was getting away from them and now was the time for them to pull it back as a team and build pressure back on the batsman or the game was gone. With some magnificent spells from Jack (0/21 off 6), Ashish (0/21 off 6), Tom (0/16 off 6) and Harry (1/18 off 4) and quality fielding by all 12 boys St Peters slowly brought back the scoring rate and began building pressure back on the batsman to have St Laurence’s 1/49 at drinks (15 overs). The boys were quietly confident at drinks. They knew they had slowed the opposition scoring rate and built pressure back on St Laurence’s who now needed 68 runs off 90 balls to take the win.
St Laurence’s needed 48 runs off 48 balls. From this point neither side gave in with the equation being 29 runs needed off 28 balls and then 24 runs off 19 balls. Creating dot ball after dot ball, St Peters brought the game down to the last over of the match with St Laurence’s needing 13 runs to win. Still only two wickets down and with two set batsman at the crease the challenge for Ashish and the other 10 fielders was before them. Ashish bowling a magnificent yorker that drew only one run it was down to the last ball with three runs needed for the win. Ashish then bowled another line and length ball in which the batsman missed but they managed to run through for a single. St Peters won by one run!
A reminder to all cricketers that the Cricket Lunch is on this Sunday and the expectation is that all students are to wear full Formal Winter uniform. We look forward to celebrating the season. Good luck to all teams this weekend against SPC.

Round 6 Report
With our AIC Term 1 seasons coming to an end, our Volleyballers had another tough round against St Laurences College. Well done to the following teams on their victories; 11A, 9B, 8A, 8B and 7Bs. Also, congratulations to our 8A and 9B teams on their undefeated seasons so far. With one more game to go I’m sure these two teams will be looking to go up a gear to finish the season off strong. Also looking toward this weekend will be our 9A boys who with a win this weekend and a couple of favourable results else ware have an opportunity to tie for a premiership – good luck to Mike Rikerby and his boys.
Game of the Round – 11As
The boys played a complete match on the weekend. During the first set, we gave up several service errors and had trouble hitting our service targets. In saying that, we performed well and only went down by two points after the first change. Gustavo A set well in the first set but injured his ankle leaving room for Daniel W to take over the reins in the second set and lift the boys. Our serving in the second and third sets improved as we were able to hit our targets putting pressure on them and making it difficult for them to set up their attack. When the opposition did attack, our boys scrambled very well and made sure that easier balls went right to the setter. Wilson L and Hinton T lead the way with their hitting and we were also able to get some good attacks through the middle and right side. Hinton also played a critical role in the third set with his runs of serve giving us a good lead early. Despite a couple of costly serve reception errors, the boys held their nerve. All players on and off the court showed great team spirit and it is great to see their hard work pay off leading into our final round against St Patricks College this weekend. Well done boys!

Over the past few weeks, our 1st XI have trialled against some quality opposition in preparation for our own season in Term 2. Our boys had a 3-0 win against Albany Creek State High School as well as a 4-2 win over BBC. Well done boys.
For now, please make sure that we are attending our trainings especially now that our AIC Volleyball and Cricket seasons are winding up. It is important that we are finishing the term with a strong commitment to our Term 1 sport so we can hit the ground running in Term 2.
