Representing St Peters
On the weekend, we had the second big QGSSSA Championship carnival for the year, Cross Country. As you will read in the full Cross Country write up, our girls represented the College with pride and passion, running their hearts out and supporting each other. The individual performances, which contributed to the overall result, reflected the grit of each girl as the 3km course is not an easy one but every girl rose to the challenge on the day. As a staffing body, we were extremely proud of all of our runners and the second place finish is a testament to the girls and how much work they put in to their general and cross country running fitness - our best result in 15 years!

QGSSSA Cross Country Championships
On Saturday, our Cross Country team competed in the QGSSSA Championships at Rivermount College. It was an amazing day, not only because of the spectacular performances of all the girls that ran out of their skins to finish overall in second position is record breaking. St Peters has not beaten Grammar for 28 years and winning the Opens race over State high was a phenomenal achievement. Thank you to our Captain, Zoe M, and Vice-Captain, Laura B, who lifted the spirits of the team and to the many parents and staff who came to watch a spectacular and entertaining event. Congratulations to the team, who supported each other with what can be considered another display of team spirit and companionship which now is a given in the Cross Country culture at our school. Individual mention must go to our top scoring runners for each age group
- Ella K - 10th in the U12 year event
- Gabby S who won the 13 year event in one of the quickest times of the day – and in fact her time was the third fastest time of any girl in any age group at the event.
- Brianna F in the 15 years
- Ella H – 9th in the 16 years
- Zoe M – 2nd in the Opens
These performances, along with every member of our 2019 team, contributed to four outstanding age groups, the 13 years 3rd, 15 years 2nd the 16 years 3rd and the Opens placing 1st overall, which is a phenomenal achievement. Well done to all girls who ran.
The QGSSSA Cross Country Championships were also a celebration of community companionship at its best and we applaud the efforts of the coaching staff, the parents and the competitors. A big thank you goes to Mrs Kerry Schreiber, the most passionate driver of running at St Peters, and the Manning family for all their support over the past four years. This second place in 2019 is the result of a continued effort from these staff members, along with our other coaches, over the past few years.

Last Thursday saw wins to the 9A Touch Team, the Opens, Senior A, 10A, 9A, 8A,8B and 7A Basketball teams, and the Intermediate and Junior Football teams. As we approach the end of the season we have many teams, vying for a top two finishes. We encourage all girls to maintain their motivation right until the end of the season.
Our Round 7 games this Thursday are at away venues. All draws are on the St Peters App.
Winter Fixtures
Next week sees the start of our Winter Fixtures - Hockey, Netball, Tennis and Volleyball preseason training with netball trialling well underway. Girls are emailed each Monday all details and are encouraged to check these details. Apart from Netball, all trials are held during normal training sessions, please check the St Peters App for the most up to date information.
At this time of year trying to juggle both in-season Autumn Fixtures training with pre-season Winter Fixture training can be hard. In-season sessions take priority. If girls are having trouble managing their schedule, particularly if they are also involved in the Music program, they are strongly encouraged to come in to Sports House so that we can help them manage the second half of Term 2 and fit in their school work and some down time.
