As part of our continuous improvement process, I wish to provide opportunities for parents (Prep to Year 12), and students (Years 5 to 12) to provide us with feedback relating to their views of St Peters Lutheran College across a wide range of areas.
As per previous years, this research is being conducted by MMG Education, a specialist education consultancy that works with schools in the areas of school strategic reviews and stakeholder satisfaction. MMG’s client schools include many of the leading schools across Australia. Parents will be invited to complete a questionnaire over a two week period commencing on Friday 27 September 2024. Students will complete their questionnaires in Week 1 or Week 2 of Term 4.
On Friday 27 September, MMG Education will email you an invitation to participate in the review and provide you with your confidential, secure access to your questionnaire.
To ensure confidentiality and to encourage frank and full expression of views:
All responses will be de-identified;
The data will be reported back to the College in aggregated form only; and
All data collected by MMG Education will remain under its control and archived according to research protocols. The College will not be able to access it.
At the conclusion of the research period, MMG Education will provide the College with a report. This report will then help to guide the ongoing development and improvement of St Peters.

TIME is the single most important ingredient in our relationships, especially when it comes to Dads and their children.
The research is compelling; kids need their Dads. The more a Dad is present and involved in his children’s lives in a positive way, the better the outcomes for them. Fathers make unique and direct contributions to their children’s wellbeing, from better physical health to more prosperity. Children with involved Dads are smarter (they have higher IQs!) and more prosperous. They also have a better sense of self-esteem and grow up with more self-control, confidence, and self-worth.
Additionally, it’s better for Dad!
Dads who spend time with their kids are more likely to be satisfied with their lives, feel less psychological distress, and have more empathy. They also have a greater sense of self, feel greater general wellbeing, and have more happiness in their relationships. And when a father is emotionally involved with his children, it acts as a buffer against work-related stresses.
It’s important to acknowledge that not all children have the privilege of a safe and supportive father figure, and many single parents do an exceptional job raising their children independently. Regardless of family structure, the most important factor is a loving and nurturing environment where children feel safe and valued.
However, if you’re a Dad who has the opportunity to be involved in your child’s life, embrace it. The impact you have on your child’s development is profound and lasting.
Dads, being a parent is one of the most important and rewarding roles you’ll ever have. It’s also demanding and requires you to constantly adapt and learn. Kids grow up so fast, so every moment counts. By spending time with your kids, you’re not just making memories, you’re shaping their future and strengthening your bond.
Being present means being there for the everyday moments, like sharing meals, playing together, or even just hanging out. These seemingly small interactions build a strong foundation for your relationship.
Dr Justin Coulson
It was both a pleasure and a privilege to recently host our annual Father’s Day Breakfast, where we warmly welcomed many fathers, grandfathers, and other significant male figures into Lower Primary for a shared meal and fellowship.
This celebration of male role models goes beyond honouring biological fathers. Grandfathers, uncles, older brothers, and mentors all play vital roles in our personal growth. Through their life experiences, values, and the lessons they’ve shared, these individuals shape who we are, inspire our ambitions, and impart skills that stay with us for life.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to Krupa Raniga and the wonderful group of parents who once again made the Father’s Day stalls possible this year. Your efforts behind the scenes are truly appreciated, and this event could not happen without your dedication. Another big thanks to Sinead Ray and the Senior School Hospitality students for providing the delicious food and refreshments, and to our Year 6 student leaders who assisted throughout the morning. Your contributions made this occasion one to remember!

Farewell Term 3
As we approach the end of a busy, and sometimes challenging term, so too we approach a changeover in a number of key staff positions within Junior High.
I have appreciated both the opportunity and experience that has come from working in the role of Acting Head of Junior High for the past 9 months, following Mrs Patricia Aishford’s resignation at the end of 2023. In Term 4 I will return to my substantive position as Deputy Head of Junior High, supporting the new Head of Junior High, Mr Maxwell Forbes.
In my role this year as Acting Head of Junior High, I have been supported by an amazing group of staff, and must make special mention of Mrs Amanda Huxham (Acting Deputy Head of Junior High) who has made an invaluable contribution to Junior High this year – through supporting her colleagues, the students and our parents. She has also guided and mentored our Junior High Leaders throughout the year, coordinated many wonderful Assemblies and worked tirelessly on behaviour management processes. Mrs Huxham is returning to work in the Senior School next term and we will definitely miss her.
Thank you too to the Junior High Year Level Coordinators - Mr Benjamin Higgins (Year 9), Miss Helena Lambert (Year 8), and Mrs Allie Walsh (Acting Year 7 Coordinator). These individuals, along with our outstanding Administration and Junior High Reception staff, and members of our Counselling and Chaplaincy teams, have done an outstanding job in supporting our Junior High community throughout the year and I thank them sincerely. We look forward to welcoming and supporting Mr Forbes, as he commences his new role as Head of Junior High in Term 4.

Year 7 News – Allie Walsh, Acting Year 7 Coordinator
In Year 7 we have focused on building relationships with one another, following on from our Fun and Friendship Camp at the end of Term 2. Students have spent time discussing positive relationships and how to interact with one another in person and online. We have had guest speakers at our Year Level Assembly including some of our newly elected 2025 Prefects, who spoke about their experiences with bullying or how they would react in certain situations, to help encourage our Year 7s to engage positively with one another. It was powerful to see the enthusiasm the Year 11 Prefects Elect had for making the College a more enjoyable place with their ideas for 2025.
The Year 7s enjoyed their first Inter-House Athletics Carnival where their attendance and participation was to be commended. Many of the students really enjoyed the day of competition, sunshine and interaction with other students in their Houses. We also had some Year 7s audition for and perform at SPYGT (St Peters You’ve Got Talent) this year, with Joshua S coming third overall in the competition.
The students have continued to build on developing good organisational and study skills throughout their Pastoral Care lessons and we look forward to continuing this and preparing them for their transition to Year 8 next term. We have also had many of our Class Representatives sharing about their experiences with our cocurricular programs to encourage further participation into the future. It has been a busy but fulfilling term for the Year 7 Cohort.
Year 8 News - Helena Lambert, Year 8 Coordinator
Year 8 has had a productive and engaging term. We started with a memorable Week 1 Camp that helped students build strong connections and embrace new experiences.
Academically, Year 8 students have demonstrated impressive commitment, showing notable progress in their studies. They've also excelled in extracurricular activities, achieving successes in Sports, Arts, and more. Alongside their academic and extracurricular efforts, students have continued to develop their character strengths, gaining a better understanding of themselves and how they fit into the St Peters community.
Overall, it’s been a term of growth, hard work, and accomplishment for our Year 8 cohort. Congratulations to all for their contributions and achievements!
Year 9 News – Ben Higgins, Year 9 Coordinator
This term has been a busy and rewarding one for our Year 9 students. Ironbark group EF enjoyed a rich, character-building experience at Ironbark, while GH are currently in their final week. All reports from Ironbark highlight how GH has been an incredibly supportive, cohesive, and enthusiastic group, working together to overcome obstacles as a unified team. Looking ahead, we are excited for JK’s upcoming departure to Ironbark on Tuesday, October 1. We will be sharing departure logistics with parents and caregivers in the coming days.
As we approach the end of Term 3, and with Term 4 being their final term as Junior High students, we can reflect on the incredible growth and personal development they've experienced. This is an important phase in their St Peters journey as they prepare for the exciting transition into Senior School, where they will continue to build on the skills and experiences they have gained this year.

Boys Sport
Last weekend saw the final round of AIC Basketball, Rugby League and Tennis fixtures for 2024. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those involved in making our 2024 Basketball, Rugby League and Tennis season such a successful one. Many thanks to both Georgia Smith (Basketball Coordinator), Nathaniel Bartlett (Rugby League) and Lija Marshall (Tennis Coordinator) for all their hard work each week in ensuring that both sports ran smoothly and effectively.
We would also like to extend our gratitude to all our coaches for their support, knowledge and mentoring of our boys. It would be remiss not to thank both the students who participated as well as their families who supported them each week throughout the AIC season.
Without the enthusiasm and support of all the above mentioned, such a successful sporting season of AIC Sport would not have been achieved.
We would like to congratulate the following St Peters Tennis teams who completed the AIC Tennis season as premiers
1sts, 2nds, 3rds, 10A, 10B, 9A, 9B ,
We must also congratulate our Basketball teams who despite most teams having tough seasons developed as the season went on and remained dedicated to training and games.
While our first season of Rugby League was a memorable one with both our Junior and Senior Rugby League teams winning nine games from a possible twelve. With a Senior squad being predominantly comprised of Years 10 and 11 students it was a testament to their ability to record wins against Villanova and St Laurence’s College. While our Juniors were promoted off the back of impressive results and remained undefeated in the As for their three games against IONA, Padua and Villanova. We look forward to seeing this age group continue to progress and develop in the years to come.
Congratulations
Kai G (Year 11) who competed at the World Lifesaving Championships. Kai helped the Australian team to numerous team gold and silver medals as well as individual efforts. Congratulations Kai on a phenomenal achievement, with a selection of events listed below that Kai contributed to:
Gold, world champion youth men beach relay

Rugby League News
Last weekend, our Juniors rounded off their successful first season of Rugby League with a win against Villanova. After the boys were promoted in Round 5 to the 7A division, they remained undefeated, which was an incredible result! Congratulations, boys, on a fantastic first season. To lose only one game by two points all season to the strongest Rugby League College for the age group is an incredible turnaround from where we started.
While our Seniors narrowly went down to Second XIII premiers Marist College Ashgrove, the boys can hold their heads high for a well-contested match. A thank you and farewell to the 10 departing Seniors who represented the Senior team this year – Alex B, David C, Sam C, Wallace C, Xavier C, Ben F, Grayson G, Dan N, Johnny N & Alex T.
