One night, Jesus' disciples were out fishing on the sea of Galilee (read Matthew 14:22-27). When they set out, all was calm, but as the night deepened a strong wind came up. Their fishing boat was tossed to and fro, the sailors wishing the sides of the boat were a little higher and the wood a little thicker. And, if that was not enough, just before dawn they saw a figure walking towards them on the water. Not surprisingly, they were terrified! Was this a ghost? Was this some sort of premonition that they were going to die? They cried out in fear … and in response heard the voice of Jesus, reassuring them.

In hindsight, we might wonder how Jesus’ disciples could have failed to see that the figure coming towards them was Jesus. After all, he had performed many miracles in their sight, feeding a large crowd from very little just the day before. The reason they didn’t is that it takes eyes of faith to see Jesus. To recognise Jesus, you have to be looking and expecting. 

Truth be known, in the middle of life’s storms, battered by waves of disappointment and doubt, people miss Jesus all the time. We may think that God is not in the storm, when the storm is exactly where God chooses to be. Storms are not signs of God’s absence, they are places of God’s presence for those who have eyes to see and ears to hear.  Sometimes they are God’s way of 'rocking our boat' – of shaking us out of our reliance and trust in ourselves, so that we look instead to God. Every storm is a trust exercise.  Every storm is an invitation to look for Jesus – whether the storm is the loss of a job or a health setback or a financial loss or a bitter disappointment of one form or another. 

What 'storms' do you find yourself in at the moment?  Jesus comes to us through the darkness and upon the waves and challenges us to see and to believe and to trust. What he said to his fear-ridden disciples, Jesus says to us: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”

Student Portrait Photos

Students who missed having their photo taken or were absent on portrait day will have the opportunity to have their portrait photo taken on Thursday 20 August.

Junior High and Senior School students will be emailed with times and dress requirements.  Primary Years parents will be emailed with dress requirements.

It is important for all students to have their portrait photo taken as it will be printed on their 2021 ID cards.

Family (Sibling) photo

For families who missed out on a sibling photo, you will have the opportunity on Thursday 20 August between 7.30am – 8.00am.  Photos will be taken in Luther House (old Senior School Reception, near Langer Library).  Families with students in Primary Years, please register your attendance with Mrs Elaine Ripamonti as students will need to be escorted and supervised.

Did you know?

The Blue Card system is changing from 31 August 2020 with a 'No Card, No Start' policy.

This means that paid employees and volunteers must hold a current Blue Card or be issued with a Blue Card before commencing work at the College.

This does not apply to Teachers with current QCT Registration/Nurses with NMBA Registration.

If you are interested in working at our College, you may wish to consider how your application will affect your suitability for a position as holding a current Blue Card prior to commencing is an inherent requirement of all roles (excluding Teaching/Nursing)

Volunteers in our Community

We have many different volunteers in our St Peters Community and depending on the context, a volunteer Blue Card may be required.

If you already volunteer or are interested in volunteering with the College on a regular basis (more than seven times in a calendar year), you must ensure you hold a current Volunteer Blue Card prior to being on site.

On 28 July, Students 4 Students raised awareness and funds for The Smith Family. The Smith Family is an independent children's charity helping disadvantaged Australian children to get the most out of their education, so they can create better futures for themselves. One in six Australian children and young people living in poverty need our support to make the most of their education. 

They worked so well as a team on the day with all Year Levels on the day.  Orders were made online and donuts had to be counted as they were organised by year levels to pick up in different areas of the College. So, it was not an easy process, however, I’m glad to say everyone was able to pick up their donuts and enjoy this yummy treat. Well done to Axielle D and Imogen T, Year 12 leaders of Students 4 Students, for all their hard work.

Despite the restrictions they raised over $785.00. These funds raised will support the Learning for Life program, helping young Australians living in poverty to access education. This video, of one of their students, Mason, helps bring to life how this Learning for Life program helps young people achieve their dreams and have some of the same opportunities in education that are available to their more advantaged peers.

Last Friday was Jeans for Genes Day. It was really great to see so many students at St Peters wearing Jeans and their House shirts to raise money for research into childhood diseases. One in 20 children are affected by genetic diseases.

The College has been supporting this charity for 25 years and, as a whole College, this year we raised a record amount over $2,800 - a fantastic effort particularly by  that Junior High who alone raised $1,200.65. Junior High also ran a competition with the Houses and Cunningham was the House to have the most students wearing their House shirt. Well done Cunningham!

As part of the Social Justice Group we were fortunate to be asked to participate in the Channel 9 Today Show filmed at the College on Friday. This was great fun as we were able to promote Jeans for Genes Day. Students were interviewed about their involvement with the fundraiser and we had a fashion show incorporating both staff and students to show off our double denim. We also danced out hearts out as the sun broke through on a great day.

I think it’s fair to say that so far, 2020 has been a year in which we’ve all been presented with many challenges, and the St Peters Multicultural Committee is no exception. At the beginning of the year, we were eager to jump into planning for this year’s Multicultural Week and various other events throughout the year, oblivious to the challenges that would arise due to COVID-19. When At Home Learning began, the committee took to zoom meetings, getting together during our lunch breaks on a Tuesday every week. We adapted quickly to the temporary change in our lives, beginning to publish a fortnightly newsletter to keep everyone updated on various global and local multicultural events. This proved to be quite a success.

However, when we learned that this global pandemic would be sticking around for quite a bit longer, the prospect of having to cancel the beloved Parade of Nations became very real. In the committee we were determined to keep this going, so, like many other events during this time – we went online. This in itself did certainly not come without its multitude of challenges – beginning with the fact that none of us had any expertise in filming and producing. We took our ideas to the Communications Department who willingly gave us advice on how to best begin preparing for the task ahead of us. Planning kicked off and thanks to the eager students of St Peters, we had unprecedented numbers sign up to carry flags. 

Unfortunately, due to restrictions we were forced to cut down numbers quite significantly. This pushed us to think outside of the box. With the flexibility of pre-recording this event, we were able to include photos into the Parade, including that of our primary school students and some students who are in isolation overseas, unable to attend school. As well as making additional tweaks to the Parade. These unanticipated circumstances have no doubt presented us with their several obstacles, however we have persevered through these to ultimately produce a Parade of Nations with a fresh, new look. This mindset further embraces our Multicultural Week theme of 'Many Nations, One Family'. Although we could not be together, we are one, connected by our uniqueness.

Year 12 QCAA Mock Exam Block

The draft Mock exam block schedule was released to the students last week to check for clashes. The exam block will run from Monday 24 August through to Thursday 3 September. Students are to prepare for these exams as they would for the External Exams in Term 4. Timing of exams, equipment lists and AARA provisions have been published to the students. Students are to relay any concerns well in advance to their teachers, Year Level Coordinator or myself.

Year 11 QCAA Exam block

The Year 11 QCAA students are also embarking on their assessment times, with Week 8 holding in class exam and assessments and Week 9 being a designated Exam Block week. A draft schedule of the exams times and days will be published to the students this week and available on Firefly.

Subject selection Web preferences and SET Plan

Thank you to families for completing the online Web-Preference subject selections this week. Academic Operations are already underway in developing the best 2021 timetable to accommodate the student’s preferences. You will receive subject confirmation towards the end of November.

Awards

This week we celebrated the Academic success of many, many students across Years 8 -12 with the presentation of the Academic Personal Best (PB) Awards and GPA Improver Certificates. After what was an incredibly difficult semester for all, it was wonderful to see so many improve on their previous results. Of great note, the Year 12s made an incredible improvement on their GPA’s, which is fantastic. Well done to all.

In the new Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) system, students’ results for General and General (Extension) subjects are based on their achievement in three internal assessments and one external assessment that is common to all schools, administered under the same conditions, at the same time and on the same day, and developed and marked by the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) according to a commonly applied marking scheme.

In Mathematics and Science subjects (General and General (Extension) subjects only), a student’s external assessment result contributes 50% to their final subject result. In all other General subjects, it contributes 25%. The external assessment result does not scale the internal assessment result.

The QCAA will appoint community members as invigilators to observe and report on the administration of external assessment sessions at secondary schools and approved assessment venues throughout Queensland.

Invigilators play an important role in promoting public confidence in the new QCE system and ensuring that proper and fair administrative procedures are implemented.

Congratulations to Ms Ellise Moncrieff and her partner James who recently welcomed their baby daughter – Lily Grace Simmons – Born at 2.21pm on 30 July, weighing 3.79kg.

Mrs Sabri, Deputy Head of Upper Primary will be taking two weeks long service leave, commencing next week. She will return on Monday 31 August. Mrs Jenelle King will take on the role of Acting Deputy in her absence, and 5A will be well looked after by Mrs Joy Tobiano.

Parent Sessions

Thanks to everyone who attended last week’s PY Parent Support Group. It was a pleasure to have parents back on campus face to face for this meeting.

Other parent sessions which have occurred already in the last couple of weeks include the Prep Parents In Partnership session on Tuesday and the PYP sessions for all parents of Primary aged students.

Don’t forget there are still two more PYP Coffee and Chat sessions run by Mrs Mitchell being held this term.

SLEEP TIPS FOR KIDS

Regularity and routine are the agents of sleep. It takes discipline to adhere to and commitment to making sleep a high priority. Helping kids understand how their body clock works, assisting them to work out their optimal bedtime and putting lifestyle habits in place can help them get the sleep they need to maximise their learning, wellbeing, development and overall performance. Here are some tips to help:

Understand the body clock

Sleep is regulated by a 24-hour body clock that manages the secretion of melatonin to send us to sleep and cortisol to wake us up. This amazing body clock is reset every day when light first hits our retinas. Sleep in late and the clock goes out of synch. When your child works with the rhythms of their body’s 24-hour clock they will give themselves the optimal chance for sleep success.

The sleep-wake cycle for teenagers is delayed by up to two hours. That is, they are sleepy later and awake later than when they were children. Melatonin, which makes them sleepy, is secreted as late as 11.00pm for some young people, which makes the time before bedtime a sleepless zone. Cortisol, the chemical that wakes them up is released at close to 8.00am for many teens. If this is the case, your young person’s brain wants to be asleep when they need to be awake for school.

Stick to sleep recommendations

The Raising Children’s Network recommends between 11-13 hours’ sleep per night for young children, 10-11 hours for primary school children and 8-10 hours for secondary school-aged kids. As every child is different, you may notice that your child needs more or less sleep than is recommended.

Develop good sleep hygiene habits

• Start a regular bedtime routine at least 45 minutes out from bedtime to help kids get ready for sleep.
• Eat and exercise at the right time. Sleep likes a relaxed body and a calm nervous system, so schedule exercise and active movement before mealtimes.
• Create a sleep sanctuary. Restrict bedrooms to sleep and relaxation quarters and find other places in the house for time out and reflection, schoolwork and active play.
• Keep bedrooms cave-like. A child’s bedroom should be cave-like – that is, dark, cool and free from electronic devices. Darkness encourages melatonin, which regulates sleep-wake patterns.
• Get up at a regular time. For optimal sleep, bed and wake up times need to be as regular as possible.

Lifestyle habits that promote sleep

• Teach your child or young person to put away digital devices at least ninety minutes before bedtime
• Minimise weekend sleep-ins and limit them to an hour more than usual, to keep the sleep clock operating on a regular basis
• Encourage your child to go outside every day – take a walk, meet a mate (subject to COVID restrictions) or do an errand
• Keep homework out of bedrooms, or at least out of beds. The brain associates activity with location, so if kids work while on their beds, it will be hard for them to mentally switch off from their schoolwork when the light finally goes out.
• Confine caffeine to mornings. Consuming caffeine in any form close to bedtime is like throwing a wrecking ball through regular sleep patterns. The brain needs to calm down rather than be artificially stimulated if sleep is to occur.
• Sleep is a critical component of enhancing a child’s wellbeing, learning, development and overall performance. Helping your child to get enough quality sleep will ensure that their brain and body are being used at full capacity.

The students of the Primary Years are encouraged to identify their strengths and that of others.   Martin Seligman identified 24 Character Strengths which he believes that everyone possesses in different degrees, so each person has a truly unique character strengths profile.

All Year 7 Science students are currently working on ‘Wonders of Science’ challenge tasks.  These tasks immerse students in authentic and collaborative inquiry.  Students develop critical and creative thinking skills as they are challenged to develop a group response to a real-world problem or scenario. Students are supported throughout the project by ‘Wonders of Science Ambassadors’.  The ambassadors are selected PhD researchers from leading Queensland universities who have been engaging with students via team meetings. Representative teams are chosen to attend regional student conferences to present their response and showcase their work.  Over the coming weeks photo updates of students progress will be shared. 

Miss Stewart's class are currently designing their own super bug.  Shayne C, Zac A and Chloe H are creating their own interactive website for their unique species 'Dynastes magnacornua'.

Last week students in Junior High outdid themselves in their support of Jeans for Genes Day. Getting the Balance Right

Supporting your child to gain independence is one of the most important roles you have as a parent.   Getting the balance right between too much and two little assistance can be difficult.  It can be particularly difficult to keep the big picture in mind when living in the moment and dealing with the here and now. Everyone is guilty of occasionally ‘doing it for them’ because sometimes it’s just easier. Congratulations!

Every week at St Peters there are opportunities to witness amazing performances by our students. Students whose talents are nurtured and developed by lots of hard work and dedication by the students themselves, their teachers and their families.  This week on Year 7 Assembly we celebrated the achievements of Indy C. who recently stared in Totally Wild in a segment all about Rock Climbing.  I’m sure she is going to be able to use her skills and knowledge to support her peers when they participate in Rock Climbing at Ironbark next year.  Well done Indy!

One of the many highlights at this week's Senior School Assemblies has been the presentation of Academic Personal Best Awards – which recognised students who achieved personal bests in regard to their GPA’s at the end of Semester 1, 2020. A sincere thank you to Rachael Turnbull (Head of Curriculum – Students) and Peter MacDonald (Director of Teaching and Learning Innovation) for their efforts in celebrating this achievement. 

Striving for personal best performance is a key narrative in our discussions with students and assists in work ethic, goal setting and time management conversations. With a clear and deliberate focus on academic outcomes, we hope to present these awards twice a year based on a student’s semester results. A reminder that GPA information and tracking is available on Senior School students report cards.

Academic Improvement awards were also presented at our assemblies this week to students who improved their GPA by more than 0.5% (or equivalent).  Any student being celebrated for their achievement should be proud of what they have accomplished in what was a particular challenging Semester One.

Year 12 News - Mr Mark Manson

A busy time is ahead for the Year 12 students. The IB students commence their mock exams next week (Week 6) and the ATAR students the week after (Week 7). All students have been encouraged to prepare for these as if they were the end of year exams. If they do so then the feedback they will receive will be invaluable in helping them prepare for the real thing.

Judging by the vast number of awards presented at assembly last week, most of the students are timing their run to the finish nicely. 

Year 11 News - Mrs Amanda Huxham

In the Academic Care and Wellbeing lessons this week, Year 11 students will  extend on their discussions on the importance of developing grit in the face of adversity. In particular, students will engage in discussions and activities around how a resilient mindset can help students to achieve success in all areas of their lives. 

Planning has started for the Year 11 Dinner Dance. At this stage, government guidelines allow for the event to take place, however capacity restrictions will mean only students and staff will be involved. Year 11 students have been invited to participate in a committee to organise the evening. I will provide further details in the coming weeks.

Year 10 News - Ms Bronwyn Jamieson

A very busy week last week for Year 10s, with the focus being on completing the Set Plan. Interviews have been non-compulsory, but many parents have taken the opportunity to take their student to meet with a teacher to get some advice about ensuring their Set Plan is completed accurately. Subjects should have been selected online by Monday 10 August. Students are asked to bring a printed copy of the online subject selections to their Form Teacher on Tuesday 11 August. On Wednesday last week, students were invited to participate in the PARTY (Prevent Alcohol and Risk-related Trauma in Youth) program - an interactive educational workshop run by the RBWH. Forty one students attended and by all accounts, they felt it was a very worthwhile experience.

Applications for Prefect positions closed on Sunday (9 August). The third and fourth breakfasts happened last week with prospective leaders further planning their application on Monday (session run by myself) and on Wednesday with the Senior Captains and Mr Rushmore. The Wednesday session in particular was valuable as students got to hear first hand what it is like to be a leader at St Peters. If students have missed any information or were not able to attend a breakfast, video is supplied of each session on Firefly. This week, both staff and Year 11 students will get the chance to ‘endorse’ those who have applied.

Once again, a reminder to all parents and students that due to COVID restrictions, driving on campus is not allowed. This includes drop offs. Student drop off zones have been communicated to students (and parents through various other means) as being on Lambert Road, Harts Road and Indooroopilly Road. Lohe Street entrances in particular will be monitored as there have been a significant number of parents using the entry. Please help us keep our community safe!

The St Peter's Performer of the Year Recital and Concerto Final is always a cultural event not to be missed. Add the fact that this will also be our first live concert since Term 1 and both finals promise to be a very special evening of music making at the highest level. 

The Recital Final features nine performances with piano accompaniment including voice, piano, violin, cello, double bass and trumpet while the Concerto Final features five performances backed by the St Peters Symphony Orchestra. Seating for both concerts is limited due to social distancing restrictions so make sure you book your tickers fast. All proceeds from tickets sales are given to the winner’s chosen charity.

AIC Basketball and Tennis training and games have concluded for the Term 3 Season.

AIC Football

AIC Football training has begun on Wednesdays, 3:30pm – 5:00pm on Stolz Oval. AIC Football training will continue Wednesday 19/8, 26/8, 2/9, 9/9.

There will no longer be training on Friday morning for the Year 6 players.

AIC Football Games will start on Saturday 22 August and continue Saturday 29/8, 5/9 and 12/9.

AIC Rugby

Rugby training will be on Friday afternoons (3:30pm – 4:30pm on Mayer Oval) and Wednesday afternoons (3:30pm – 5:00pm). All training will be on Mayer Oval. Rugby training will continue throughout Term 3.

AIC Rugby Games will start on Saturday 22 August and continue Saturday 29/8, 5/9 and 12/9.

AIC Chess

AIC Chess will be played in the second half of Term 3. Games will be played against other AIC Schools on Friday afternoons/evenings on a HOME and AWAY basis. St Peters will provide transport for players to and from the all AWAY games throughout the Term. Games are 20 mins per player with two matches being played each week.

We are currently looking for all interested Years 5 and 6 Chess players for the Term 3 AIC Chess Season. The Season starts on Friday 21 August and concludes on Friday 11 September.

Results

Round 4 of our Winter Fixtures v Brisbane State High School was a great day for St Peters Girls Sport. With outstanding results in Netball, Volleyball, Hockey and Tennis we are seeing the results of many hours of hard work from our Coordinators and Coaches. The St Peters War Cry was sung with great pride by many teams around the venues and I was a very proud Girls Sport Coordinator.

Last Saturday our Rowing girls headed off to Wyaralong Dam for the first of the four Regattas of the 2020 season. By all reports it was a tough day, quiet with no spectators but full of spirit within our St Peters team.  We look forward to seeing improvement over the next few weeks and we thanks Mr Hicks and his team of coaches for all their hard work.

Congratulations to the St Peters Girls Open Basketball team, last Thursday the girls had two great qualifying wins competing in the Wildcard Challenge Competition at Auchenflower stadium. The girls have now qualified for the Champion Basketball School of Queensland (CBSQ) tournament later in the term. Good luck with the preparations for this tournament and it was so good to see our St Peters girls back on the Basketball court.

Congratulations also to our St Peters Open Volleyball team who after a tough loss in five sets to BSHS last Thursday afternoon bounced back amazingly well when playing in the Senior Volleyball School Cup. Finishing third in the Year 12 – Division 1 was an awesome effort in the three days tournament down the Gold Coast. Our Senior Development Girls also competed in this tournament, they finished in sixth  place in the Year 11 - Division 1 competition, another awesome effort.

Round 4 Wrap v BSHS

I was one very proud Coordinator at our Round 4 fixtures v BSHS last Saturday, to come away with 10 wins from 16 games against the powerhouse of BSHS was an outstanding achievement. During these challenging times with no spectators allowed, I think of the Parents often and I want you to know your girls are representing St Peters amazingly well. Well done to all our teams and a special mention to our Year 9 girls, with Ironbark and injuries we have asked girls to fill in just to get the teams on the court every week. Their efforts on Saturday was great to see. Well done Girls as we prepare to play St Margaret’s this Friday the Ekka Public Holiday.

Round 4 Wrap v BSHS

Round 4 saw St Peters Volleyball Girls come up against Brisbane State High School. Overall, it was great to see our girls working hard to set up their plays. The run continues for the undefeated teams (8A, 9A, 10A, Snr A, Snr B1). We look forward to seeing all teams in action this weekend against St Margaret’s this Friday at the St Peters Indoor Gym. Well done to also our Opens girls (3rd place - Year 12 Div 1) and our Senior Development Girls (6th  place - Year 11 Div 1) who competed in the Senior Schools Cup last weekend at the Gold Coast.

Round 4 Wrap v BSHS

Last we took on Hockey heavyweights Brisbane State High in games played at Burringbar. I was thoroughly impressed with the effort particularly in defence for all teams. In the past we have had some painful defeats against BSHS but our tenacity and strategy in defence made a huge impact on the games. In the Opens games despite a 5-nil loss, the talk amongst both camps was the outstanding performance from our goalkeeper Steph D. She stood tall and made some remarkable saves throughout the game. In the Seniors I was impressed by Ari W’s endurance as she was all over the field helping after already playing a whole game of Opens prior. Big congratulations to the Junior team who recorded a 3-2 victory after being down 2-0. From post-game conversations, Josie B’s goal will be spoken about for weeks to come.  A phenomenal effort from the young girls and coach Tara.

Round 4 Wrap v BSHS

Last Saturday we had a successful round against Brisbane State High School, coming away with wins for the Open and Senior A teams. Our Junior teams continued to develop their game skills and it was great to see all players having fun in their doubles. Well done to Nina Taylor and Isabella Barber for their doubles debut showing really good communication skills on court and having loads of fun. And, a very special shout out to Tahlia K for her powerful performance in her singles. Tahlia played fiercely and demonstrated an enormous amount of grit and fortitude.

BSRA ROWING

Congratulations to the BSRA Rowing girls on competing in their first Regatta last weekend.  It was particularly impressive to see the new girls to the Rowing Program get on the water and race for the first time, big improvements were made throughout the day by these girls. 

Particular mention must be made to Giselle G. who came first and won the Year 9 girls single scull and to Ella H. who came third in the Year 11 girls single scull.

Good luck to the girls racing again this weekend at Wyaralong Dam.

St Peters Track & Field continues to grow in momentum and strength each week with great numbers participating at training and attending our weekly Friday morning tea meetings. We are extremely excited about what this year’s QGSSSA Championships will bring as a result of the quality training that is currently taking place at the College.

AIC Basketball and AIC Tennis Finals – Last Friday evening and Saturday saw the conclusion of our 2020 AIC Basketball and Tennis season. It was sensational to be able to offer our Tennis and Basketball players an opportunity (though a short season) to compete for and represent their College.

We, at Sports House, are extremely proud of both our Basketball and Tennis players for their commitment to St Peters and the way they conducted themselves both on and off the court.

I would like to acknowledge the great success of our St Peters AIC Tennis Teams and their coaches, who for the most, were victorious in both their AIC Pool Games and in the Finals.

St Peters Years 7 to 12 Tennis – 2020 AIC Champions

Congratulations to Matthew Stubbings (his first year of coordinating St Peters Tennis) for achieving such wonderful success in 2020. Together with St Peters Head Coach, Mark Lewis (Ace Tennis Australia), they have once again elevated St Peters Tennis whilst maintaining and fostering a wonderful sense of College spirit.

It would be remiss of me not to mention the great work, enthusiasm and dedication of Orhan Memedovski, St Peters Basketball Coordinator.

Being new to St Peters in 2020, Orhan stepped up to coordinate St Peters Boys Basketball and has done a remarkable job setting structures in place that will see our College’s Basketball Program go from strength to strength in 2021 and beyond. Even in the short space of six weeks, in which he has worked on the St Peters Boys Basketball Program, we have noticed a great improvement in skill level, game play, coaching and enthusiasm across all age groups.

We also wish to acknowledge the great work of all our St Peters basketball players and coaches who turned up week after week, sometimes under challenging conditions. They didn’t give in, give up or complain. For this we must commend them, are proud of them and now look forward to the exciting basketball times ahead for the remainder of 2020 (Club Basketball) and in 2021. We are confident that under the guidance of Orhan Memedovski, St Peters Basketball is on the rise.

AIC Football, AIC Rugby and AIC Chess – After last weekend’s Rugby games verse Ambrose Treacy College, our St Peters Rugby teams are well prepared to take on St Edmund’s College this Friday. Our Senior teams (Years 10 to 12) are at home whilst our Junior teams (Years 7 to 9) are away at St Edmund’s College Playing Fields, Tivoli. Coming off some great wins, we now look forward to seeing how our rugby boys will go this Friday 14 August. Please ensure that you check the St Peters App for game times and venues.

Our St Peters First XI Football Team competed last Saturday at the annual Old Scholars Invitational Football Match. It was an afternoon of great comradery with both teams thoroughly enjoying the occasion. The 2020 First XI were victorious and will no doubt remember this event for years to come.

This Friday 14 August, our St Peters Footballers, like Rugby, compete against St Edmund’s College. Our senior teams (Years 10 to 12) are at home whilst our junior teams (Year 7 to 9) are away at St Edmund’s College Playing Fields, Tivoli.

We encourage all boys who are participating to please check the St Peters App for exact venue details and times of their Football match.  

The AIC Chess season also gets underway this Thursday evening, 13 August, with our St Peters Senior and Intermediate Chess Teams taking on St Edmund’s College at home at St Peters Lutheran College, Indooroopilly. It will be great to see the weeks of preparation and training coming to fruition this Thursday.

With regards to St Peters Chess, Football and Rugby, please check for what is expected in terms of COVID procedures at each playing venue for this Friday’s fixtures verse St Edmund’s College. It is vitally important that everybody adheres to and assists us with ensuring good hygiene and social distancing as requested and required.

Parents, Guardians & Friends are welcome to come and play Tennis at St Peters during the week. It's an opportunity to get out on the court for a hit, whilst also getting some tuition from Mark Lewis (St Peters' Head Tennis Coach).

When: 8.00am to 10.30am on Friday's
Cost: $20 p/session
Who can come:  All are welcome (men and women). These are casual sessions and you can arrive/leave at a time that suits you.  You also aren't required to attend every week.
