AIC Track & Field
Congratulations to all of our AIC athletes who proudly represented St Peters at the AIC Track & Field Championships on Thursday and Friday last week. Our boys performed exceptionally well over both days, coming in at 2nd Place overall – the best result our boys have had in the past 10 years. We have recognised some of our outstanding individual results below. A special mention to our 13 years boys who won the Premiership overall in their age group. With many consistent contributions, St Peters comfortably held onto our second place overall, over 60 points clear of third place. This is an improvement from 2018 and 2017 where our boys finished in third place for both of those years. With this in mind, our boys should continue to perform well particularly with our younger age groups having many first - third placings in their events.
A sincere thank you to the coaches and coordinators for their efforts throughout the season. Finally, since it was their final chance to represent the College in the AIC sporting arena, our well wishes must go to our Year 12 sportsmen for their outstanding contribution to St Peters Track & Field and sport over the years - all the best in your future endeavours on and off the field in particular to our Captains Michael G and Isaac P who captained our team very well and lead by example.
Well done to our athletes below who achieved a first or second place in their respective events.
Lastly, I would like to thank all of our reserves who training week in and week out, attended meets and made themselves available at the AIC championships last week. On several occasions, these reserves were called upon, some within minutes of the actual event due to injuries from competitors during warm up. It is very safe to say that a team is only ever as good as its reserves and for that I sincerely would like to thank those young men who selflessly reserved for the team last week.
Date Claimer: Friday 1 November – AIC & QGSSSA Track & Field Break-up Breakfast – 6:45am in the P & F Centre.

Students interested in playing Volleyball for St Peters in 2020 should already be attending pre-season trainings which commenced this week (from Monday 29 October). The schedule for training sessions is on the St Peters App so boys need to make sure that they are aware of when they are on. Please note that there has been a change in the Year 8 training session times this week, so if this affects you, please make sure you are aware of the new training session times.
Just as we did this year in Track & Field, we are looking at backing up our strong performances this year in 2020. We look forward to seeing strong numbers of sportsmen enjoying this fantastic team sport again in Term 1 next year.

On Saturday, the St Peters U13 Div 1 Cricket team (6/148) defeated Kenmore 10/85. St Peters lost the toss and were put into bat on a sunny morning on Mayer Oval at Indooroopilly. Two early wickets had the home side on the back foot at 2/6. With some determined batting by Jamie (16 n.o.) and Noah (19 n.o.) St Peters steadied the ship and went to drinks at 3/67.
After drinks with seven wickets in hand St Peters batsmen played with more freedom going on to post 6/148 thanks to some terrific contributions from Ashish (20 n.o.), Jacob (17) and Kristian (12 n.o.).
Early breakthroughs by Jacob (1/12) and Jack (3/9) supported by some tight bowling from Ashish, Brendan and Sam saw the visitors in trouble at drinks at 4/45. After drinks it was a real team effort by the home side as all the bowlers chipped in with a wicket Fletcher (1/7), Noah (1/12), Jamie (1/4), Kristian (1/3) and Tim (1/3) and when Kristian and Jamie combined to bring about a run out and Brendan took the catch of the season in gully. Kenmore had been bowled out for 85.
The main theme to the first two games this season has been about playing together as a team with all 11 players contributing to the final result. For the second week in a row seven bowlers took wickets, the fielders created run outs and 5 batters scored double figures conceding only eight wickets in 53 overs of batting. A real team effort boys well done!
AIC Water Polo
Coordinator: Mr Alex Lawn a.lawn@stpeters.qld.edu.au
Last Sunday, our AIC Water Polo boys competed against other AIC schools in the Boys Water Polo Gala Day. Our boys played very well considering the very short lead-in time to the tournament. Please see results below.
Year 7/8 Team
Wins against Padua (8-5), St Laurences (11-4) and Villanova (7-6) for the 7/8s team showed that they could win all three games two years in a row. With strong games from Marcus M with some important steals especially in the final minute against Villanova sealed the three peat victory. Harrison C and Thomas W had strong games in goals and all members of the team had significant impacts during each game in both defence and attack.
Game 1: Padua (5-8) St Peters WIN
Game 2: Lauries (4-11) St Peters WIN
Game 3: Villa (6-7) St Peters WIN
Year 9/10 Team
The 9/10 team showed significant improvement last year going down considerably less than last years three games. It is encouraging to see the boys communicate more in the pool and developing their technical skills. Angus H and Toby M had strong games through the day and were able to encourage their team mates to push through till the end.
Game 1: Ash (7-3) St Peters LOSS
Game 2: Villa (5-3) St Peters LOSS
Games 3: Iona (7-1) St Peters LOSS
Open Team
It was very exciting that in the Opens Rupert H, who has played since Year 8, has finally got a win in his very last game representing the school against Villanova beating them 5-4 in the last minute and their defence lasted till the final bell. Michael G, the only other Year 12 player, had a strong day and was able to lead his team from the front. Strong and committed games for Tyler H, Angus H and Angus C as well as the rest of the squad shows that we should have a strong team for next year.
Game 1: Iona (6-2) St Peters LOSS
Game 2: Ash (7-2) St Peters LOSS
Game 3: Villa (4-5) St Peters WIN
Well done gents!
CONGRATULATIONS
Congratulations to Tom F for winning the All Schools Triathlon Championships over the weekend. Tom had a crash during the bike leg but was able to recover and hold on to a lead during the final run leg to take first place at the championships. Well done Tom!
Congratulations to Mr Manson and our young men who competed in the AIC Golf day on Monday this week. Our team, consisting of Pat B (Year 11), Toby M (Year 7), Huy T (Year 11) and Jacob M (Year 7), finished the day in first place in the Nett division and second place in the Gross division, earning St Peters the Balharry Shield for the Champion AIC Golfing School for 2019. Well done gents on a top effort!
With this week seeing all of our AIC sport now completed for the year, I would like to congratulate all of our young men who represented St Peters Lutheran College at the many events throughout the year. I especially appreciate all of those boys who attended every session and every game they could physically get to. I strongly believe that there are three things that make a great sporting school; Great coaches, great opportunities for athletes and; athletes who are intrinsically motivated to get to training and work hard. I look forward to seeing more of this in 2020.
