Although 2022 didn't quite start the way we had hoped for, there has been plenty of things happening in the Office to keep us busy. Due to the COVID situation, a decision was made by the College to run the Founders Day Assembly via video link.  Old Scholar, Anne Fulton (1988), sang beautifully with the St Peters Chorale, and we had two special video messages from Old Scholars Megan Daley (1993) and Thomas Barker (2004). A recording of the event is included in the 'What's On' section of this Bulletin.

We were fortunate to have an Archives Specialist with us for three weeks this Term to streamline the accession process and organise the Archives into a more accessible catalogue.  We also currently have a Year 12 Duke of Edinburgh student spending two periods a week in the Office with us. Sophie N assists with filing and sorting some of the many miscellanous photos and paperwork we have which has been a great help. 

The St Peters Open Day was held on Saturday 12 March.  It was wonderful to reconnect with our Old Scholars who are looking to send their children to St Peters for their education.  We enjoyed reminiscing with them, and wish their families all the very best in this new stage of their St Peters journey.

Friday 18 March saw the traditional rivalry between the Old Scholars and 2022 Open Girls Basketball team take place in the Indoor Gym.  The game went down to the wire as both teams contested fiercely for bragging rights, and in the end the Old Scholars took the honours by a single point 42 - 41.  Old Scholars playing this year include, Holly Johansen (2018), Zoe Johansen (2016), Ash Hannan (2018), Lorna Shepherd (2011), Zoe Perkovic (2020), and Leila Jayasinghe (2021).  Well done to all players and coaches!

Recently our Year 2 and Year 7 students visited Ross Roy, the College's original building, to learn about its history (and take a peek into the Head of College's office).

The students were excited to walk through the building where current Head of College, Mr Kotzur, has his office and were amazed at the old stove in the kitchen as well as the cast iron safe which housed the treasures of the original home owners.

Last week, the College celebrated Langer Library's 50th anniversary.  The festivities concluded on Friday with a special morning tea and opening of the time capsule.  In attendance were Old Scholars and staff, including Adrian Wiles and Dr Carson Dron (former Heads of College), and Robin Kleinschmidt (former Acting Head of College and founding Head of Redeemer College).

Senior Librarian and Old Scholar, Jan Lewis (1974), and her team created a wonderful display giving us a glimpse into the past five decades of the Langer Library.  Happy anniversary!

After the devastation of the floods in St Lucia and our surrounding area it was inspiring to see St Peters Old Scholars Councillor James Mackay (1994) and Axielle Doddridge (2020) on the ground lending a hand to residents.

It has been so upifting to see communities across Brisbane come together to help families, friends, neighbours, businesses and strangers during this crisis.
