Junior High
Years 7-9
The transition from Upper Primary into the Secondary Years is an exciting time in the life of a young person. Independence is important and we aim to support this as our Junior High students learn to navigate a timetable that moves them from one classroom to another, working with different teachers throughout the day. We believe it is imperative to foster the developing intellectual, social, emotional and physical skills of our Years 7-9 students and we do this with a philosophy and pedagogy appropriate for this stage of their lives.
Care, Dignity & Respect
Junior High is designed specifically to care for, support and guide our young adolescents in Years 7–9. Dedicated Pastoral Care teachers and Year Level Co-ordinators ensure that students have people who will nurture and advise them as they negotiate the early years of Secondary School.
Students in Junior High study the Australian Curriculum in English, Mathematics, Science, the Humanities, French, Health and Physical Education, Digital and Design Technology, and the Arts (Music, Drama and Visual Art). Further, a range of vertical electives are offered in Years 8 and 9, providing students the opportunity to experience a rich range of learning experiences in subjects such as Mechatronics, Dance and Entrepreneurship.
They undertake Christian Studies, which provides them with opportunities to develop their knowledge and understanding of the Christian faith, and are encouraged to challenge and extend themselves through a variety of opportunities, including Year 9 Ironbark Outdoor Education Experience.
