Senior School
Years 10-12
Students entering Senior School (Years 10-12) are beginning to refine their career aspirations and explore post-school opportunities. They are able to acknowledge the learning areas they excel in and what interests and excite them. With this in mind, we offer a range of elective subjects for study to our Senior School students.
Electives & Opportunities
While the College maintains a policy of exposing students to a wide range of foundational academic subjects, students also have the opportunity to select elective subjects for study. All students in Year 10 follow the Australian Curriculum in English, Mathematics, Science, the Humanities and Health and Physical Education. They further explore the Christian faith through Christian Studies lessons and can select from the following electives:
- French
- Design Technology
- Digital Technology
- Legal Studies
- Music
- Drama
- Business Studies
- Visual Art
- Media Studies
In the latter half of Year 10, students create, in partnership with parents and the school, a Senior Education Training Plan (SETP) that maps out what, where and how they will study during Years 11-12. This plan is flexible and can be changed as students refine their career pathways.
Most students at St Peters wish to enrol in university studies after Year 12. To cater for the needs of our students, the College offers a wide range of Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) General subjects in Years 11-12. Students wanting to follow non-university pathways may participate in Vocational Education and Training (VET) programs offered by external providers. Some of our students also undertake studies at local universities while still in Year 12.
