Participation in school sports provides a sense of belonging and being part of a team or group. Students interact with their peers in a friendly manner. Children learn to consider the interests of their teammates and to practice mutual respect and cooperation. They work together, share time and other resources, take turns to play and learn to cope with success and failure as a team. These interactions facilitate bonding and lasting friendships with schoolmates, which can help make children more sociable and outgoing as they grow.
St Peters Springfield offers a comprehensive cocurricular sporting program and the (Indooroopilly) campus is the home to St Peters Western Swim Club.
St Peters is involved in a number of formal sporting associations and, through nomination, students also have the chance to represent District and MetWest teams.
Both the Springfield and Indooroopilly campus have expert coaches and onsite facilities. Students from Springfield train at the Indooroopilly campus (bus transport provided before and after school) which maintains two pools, three ovals and a Gymnasium/Health and Wellbeing Centre.
