Girls Sport
Get Involved
The benefits of sports for girls are well-known. Sports teach girls:
- commitment
- respect for others
- how to relax
- to concentrate under stress
- to set and achieve goals
- to accept responsibility and failure
- to be gracious winners.
Extensive research shows physical activity and sport can enhance the mental, psychological and spiritual health of girls and young women.
St Peters Lutheran College Springfield is involved in two prestigious sporting associations, Queensland Girls’ Secondary Schools Sports Association (QGSSSA) and Brisbane Schoolgirls’ Rowing Association (BSRA). There are ten schools in the formal QGSSSA competition and fixtures are played on a rotational basis, whereby all schools compete against each other throughout the season. Girls also have the opportunity to participate in the Queensland Inter-School Equestrian Association (QISEA) and Brisbane Water Polo Inc (BWPI).
Swimming
QGSSSA Swimming is classified as one of the core sports. Students compete in a number of lead up meets culminating in the QGSSSA Swimming Championships at Chandler towards the end of Term 1. Club membership with St Peters Western is available independent of the school program.
