Drama
Performance & Expression
The Performing Arts in education provides St Peters Springfield students with the opportunity to engage the mind, the body and emotions into a collaborative expression of all that it means to be human. Through study and performance of Drama, students explore and present great themes and ideas. They discover their own voice, grow in confidence and develop empathy and ethical insight into the contradictions and paradoxes of the human condition.
Speech & Drama
Drama is taught throughout most of the St Peters Springfield year levels. It is infused into the Primary Years curriculum, taught as a compulsory subject in Junior High (Years 7-9) and offered as an elective in Senior School (Years 10–12). Private Speech and Drama lessons are also available. St Peters Springfield students from Prep-Year 12 can take advantage of these.
In Junior High, the Year 8 Production is an integrated milestone unit. It incorporates script writing, dramatic performance and music, and culminates in a one week intensive and traditional evening stage performance. Professional industry mentors are engaged to assist students during the Production. The aim is to provide students with an authentic and inspiring learning experience.
