Around the School
Leading By Example
St Peters Indooroopilly's 2021 Prefects got busy getting muddy at Ironbark recently, completely immersing themselves in their Leadership Camp experience. Since returning to Brisbane, they’ve hit the ground running, leading by example and proving that the College’s future is in good hands.
Upper Primary Peace Pole
In the lead-up to the centenary of Rotary Australia, the Rotary Club of Kenmore donated a Peace Pole to our Upper Primary students. The pole, one of just 100 donated in Australia, was officially welcomed by our Year 6 students on Tuesday 5 November, 2020—in the College’s 75th year.
Many Nations, One Family
The annual St Peters Multicultural Week is one of the College’s key calendar events. Celebrated, typically, as a whole-of-College event, the pinnacle of the week is the Parade of Nations ceremony. This year, we united online to celebrate what makes our community unique: our cultural diversity.
Sports Carnivals: The New Normal
The ‘New Normal’ is a phrase that’s being thrown around a lot lately, but what does it look like at St Peters Lutheran College? The obvious changes are in the day-to-day College activities (socially distanced assemblies and split lunch hours to reduce the students at serveries and in common areas), but they also extend to livestreamed events, spectator limits at co and extra-curricular activities and the extension of annual College Sports Carnivals.
Incoming Innovation
Huge changes continue to take place on campus at St Peters Indooroopilly and, if you haven’t had a chance to read the latest edition of the College’s biannual magazine, Plus Ultra, you may not know what they’re all about. In this post, we’ll fill you in!
Connections at Home
Cooking, exercise classes, trivia, pet appreciation, drama club and more—whoever said At Home Learning meant being alone didn’t know our St Peters community! Over the last month, staff and students from all year-levels have banded together after school hours to participate in a range of Zoom Extra-Curricular Activities. While many of these activities have wrapped up (with students now back on campus), the glowing reports are still rolling in. We caught up with Mrs Maynard to find out more about the innovative initiative that ensured St Peters maintained connections at home.
Teacher 'Guess Who'
Elite-level athletes are common at St Peters, but more so in the student body, or so we thought! Before the Term 1 Break, we met up with one of our new members of staff to find out a little more about them and their elite sporting career. Can you pick who it is?
St Peters and COVID-19
COVID-19 has caused a lot of uncertainty everywhere but, at St Peters, it's encouraged our College community to band together. Read how St Peters is keeping Care, Dignity & Respect at the forefront during the Coronavirus.
